Are contestants staying in a Youth Hostel?
I think the BBC are treating the contestants in a shoddy way by making them share a room as if they are in a Youth Hostel. Funny that the BBC can find £15,000 to put Tom Jones up in The Savoy yet they treat these young hi-fliers in this appalling way. Surely, they should have had their own bedrooms?

The program always makes such a big thing about the super-luxurious pad Lord Sid has laid on for them - super-luxurious so long as you ignore the other eight candidates snoring in your face all night that is

Its putting the people together under more stress as if someone snores they'll keep the rest of the room awake thus causing sleep deprivation driven drama and there won't be many houses in london available with 16 rooms fully en-suite to rent at any sort of price thats going to make the show worthwhile
and lets not forget they love the group getting ready shots |

The Apprentice candidates have been sharing rooms for almost a full decade, now. If any of the candidates are really that "appalled" at the way they're being "treated..." kind of their own fault, at this point.

It is because it hard to find a 16 bed house. However I always find it funny when they first enter the house and they are all making out how amazing and luxurious everything is. These are supposed to be Britain's top young professionals. If they are impressed by staying in a youth hostel. They are rather easily pleased

I don't see why they pick a pricey central location like Holborn when they could find a small mansion in the suburbs for less.

I think that the houses are generally pretty cool. They have large rooms with cool things they can do on their days off, they usually have a nice garden and nice views, even if they do have to share with some other people (and I imagine that peters out if you stay until the late stages anyway.)
I guess that at least one of the bedrooms is for the camera crew. I'm not sure if they stay with them at the house, but I imagine they do. If they don't, then they'd have to turn up early each morning before the phone rings, which somewhat ruins the 'we've got to get up!' that happens every morning. |

I think Nick and Karren should have their own room in the house. Following their every move

Dunno if it is a YHA but it must be in Birmingham or somewhere like that!!! Why? If you look at it, when the phone rings it is 6am and pitch black outside, they have half an hour to get ready, when they get in the cars it is pitch black. Amazingly, once they arrive at their destination which is usually in central London, it is always full daylight!

In week 2, we're supposed to believe 15 people get showered and ready in half an hour. Hmm....

(I imagine there's terrible wear and tear on the furnishings from all those pillow fights.) |

the only way you would ever think that house was a youth hostel would be if you have never stayed in a youth hostel

The whole "getting up" palaver is completely staged, you do realise that?

They're not "young hi-fliers": they're ridiculously deluded contestants in a tv show. Therein lies the entertainment.

Have you seen their audition videos? Quite a lot of them seem to be doing quite well for themselves.

It can't have always been completely staged though... In Series 1, there was an episode in the early weeks while the teams were still boys versus girls, where a boy answered the phone, secretly woke up all the other boys, and didn't tell the girls until just before they had to leave! The girls were furious...
