What do you think of low alcohol citrus lagers?
Just having a bottle of 2.8% Carlsberg Citrus. It's nice enough, possibly too citrussy, but it's nothing that couldn't be easily knocked up with regular strength lager and some lemon/lime juice or lemonade.
Foster's have also broght out a product called Raddler which is like a low strenght power shandy AFAICT. They used to have Foster's Twist which didn't seem to last long. |

They are pretty pointless if you ask me, although regular Carlsberg, Fosters and Carling are also pretty pointless.

When I was in lisbon recently, I tried their local beer, superbok, with the added citrus and it had a horrible after taste.

I'm thinking "what a complete waste of time."

We found them pretty good while out walking/fishing etc. Refreshing with a freezer block in the bag and low enough that 1 or 2 (depending how long we're out for) won't cause issues come home time, but I certainly wouldn't bother with them for the house.
ETA: I wouldn't liken them to a shandy personally, they weren't sweet or watered down tasting. |

No point in wasting them if they are in the fridge. Got quite a mix of lagers and beers to finish off after last weeks BBQs.

I've just had 2 cans of Warka Radler, £1.25 for a 500ml can.
Not too bad. Sweeter than normal shandy and less beery (if that's a word) than lager alone. |

I have no strong opinions either way.

Having bought a pint of shady recently, for the first time in years, i was shocked to be charged the price of a full pint! Is this the norm? I always presumed the reduced amount of alcohol would make it cheaper.

Lemonade is expensive these days. In some pubs a pint is the same price as a soft drink.
In other pubs if you ask for a lager top they charge you for the lemonade. I experienced this in Yates when they tried to charge me 50p for a dash of lemonade. Also in some pubs they won't serve a snakebite because they are not allowed to mix them. |

Fosters Radler is nice, ice cold on a sunny afternoon. Can't drink loads but 3 or 4 is ok for me else I'd be sick!

I've tried Fosters Radler, I'm not a lover of lager on it's own but I like an icy shandy on a summers day. Was nice for what it is, a posh shandy. Had a few and they were nice but I had one the other evening and it had a funny aftertaste

Special brew with a slice of lemon in it is not bad.

The pub we go to charges you just for the beer, not the lemonade.

I'm reminded of 'low fat' coconut milk. It's just normal coconut milk diluted with the same amount of water. If you don't believe me, check the label; you'll find that the nutritional content per 100ml is precisely half that of regular coconut milk. Funnily enough, it isn't half the price... |

If you want a decent tasting low alcohol beer try Mackesons Stout or Cains dark mild.

Depends on the beer you want your shandy made from. They basically charge for a half of the beer you're using.
I do love a cold shandy in this hot weather!
