Hi guys, I have an Acer Aspire laptop and my charger is basically on its last legs where I'm having to cellotape the charger into the socket in order for it to stay working.

What I want to know is if there are any shops I can just go and buy one from tomorrow? Preferably a very cheap one. Do universal chargers work for most laptops with all the different ends that comes with it? Thank you!

Are you sure it's the charger & not the socket on the laptop?

A lot of power supply sockets on laptops tend to break away from the circuit board after a while.

No doubt shops like Maplin sell switchable voltage PSU's for laptops, but they won't be cheap.

My Brother has an Acer charger and his works fine on my laptop so I guess it's the charger? Is there any stores on the high street that I'm likely to find one do you think or would my best bet be eBay? Thanks.

there are shops you can go to which will sell universal chargers - they should work fine. (just maybe ask first)

however, if you want cheap... then ebay is your best bet. and you will get one specific to your laptop... so no messing around with adaptors and voltages
