Having a mad morning lol

Pre-ordered a PS4 on Amazon, and I can trade in games with Amazon for gift certificates which I can then use towards the PS4 Pre-order.

Just worked out I can get 140 for my PS3 games and headset. This would be a massive amount towards my PS4.

My question is, do you think it's worth doing? Having no disc based games for the PS3? I have had Plus for years and is renewed until end of next year, and games such as Saints Row 3, Resi Evil 5, and Uncharted 3 are already available as part of my sub so it seems stupid having the discs too.

As Plus moves onto the PS4, do we think all these PS3 games will remain available to download in your list over the next few years to download on your PS3?

Really unsure what to do, but looking ahead, I have a 1TB PS3, so maybe with the PS4 on the horizon, it's time to move the PS3 to a download only console like I have done with my Vita?

Thanks

If they are on plus then unless I've missed some small print they are yours as long as you subscribe.

I used to keep all my games but I found myself playing one or two and the rest just gathered dust so now if I finish a game and I know there's no chance I'll ever play it again I sell it and put that money towards another one. Now that so many of them are on plus too it makes even more sense.

Yeah I agree. A lot of my games haven't appeared on Plus yet, like MGS4, GTA4, Portal 2, although saying that, I've rarely played them since completing them.

I just know when the PS4 comes out, the value of these games we shoot right down.

@thevoid i only use download games now on my ps3 as you said the disc are going to drop a lot in value very soon.
To top up my gaming a bit i also subscribe to Boomerang rentals and i get the latest games on rental from there. That might be another option for you.

The next disc game buy on PS3 will be GTA 5 & that'll be my last one until PS4 comes out. I'll just be using Plus from now on for my games.

I'd sell the games but keep the headset for now to see if it'll be compatible with PS4 so it saves you buying another one

Be wary about the Amazon trade-in option. This service isn't directly with Amazon but with a third party. I don't use them any more after they claimed that 3 separate packages went 'missing' in the post..

If you are going to use them, don't use their freepost address as you will not be able to claim for any missing packages to a freepost address even if you get a certificate of postage from the post office. Instead you would need to send your packages by recorded or special delivery so that you have some form of proof of receipt that will enable you to make a claim via Royal Mail if the recipients say they don't receive your items.

I used them for a couple of years without any issues and then things suddenly started going 'missing'. I even used different post offices n case the problem lay there but that didn't resolve the issue.

There are plenty of people on amazon's forums who have also had problems with this third party trade merchant. So be aware of this before you decide to trade in your items.

Instead of trading them in through the Amazon site, I now sell them on Amazon instead, and this option usually mean you get more money anyway.

Only ever had one item go missing with Amazon trade in, and they credited me a promotional voucher for the amount so was ok in the end.

I am tempted to sell the games that appear on Plus. My concern is that the PS3 will be switched off the network in a year or two meaning I won't be able to re-download those Plus games if I needed to.

Another option on my mind is the shopto finance one. I have excellent credit so won't have to pay interest.

How do you do that?

Go to the trade in option depending on which game you have, trade it in, and then when you get paid the gift certificate, you can change the payment method on the pre-order to part GC and part card.

I think what I'll do is as my games appear on Plus, sell them and keep the money for new releases I want in the future. That way I get the maximum out of Plus.

As long as you make sure you trigger a download once so it shows up as purchased in your purchase history. If you miss it and it disappears from PS+, then I don't think you can then download it for free?

With Plus you have to buy the game on the store (for 0.00) whilst it's active. Once you've done that it's yours as long as the sub is active.

If the game comes and goes from Plus without you confirming purchase on the store you missed it and you will have to pay for it.
