Going to take my cat Pebbles to the vet as she got a very nasty looking bald patch on her tummy which is weeping as well.

In 11 years this is the first time I had to take her back to the vets, so it is not too bad.

A bit infected, so she have had a injection of antibiotics and got a lampshade on. Also some Cream, got to take her back on Monday.

£40 for that, not too bad I suppose.

Right, now I have got to go out, which I was going to earlier on.

Aw I hope it clears up quickly

She seems to be a bit more lively this morning, she is eating, but find it difficult due to the lampshade, so I took it off for a while. the one problem I have is letting out to do her business with the collar on, but she seems to manage ok I think.

Got to take her back tomorrow for a second injection of Antibiotics.

Mine have often had to wear lampshades and some adapted better than others. I did trim one lampshade so it prevented the cat getting at the wound but made it much easier for him to eat and drink... and also to use a litter tray.

Are you letting Pebbles outside with the lampshade in place? The reason I ask is if they roam wearing it, it makes them very vulnerable.

One of mine made a dash for freedom while wearing a lampshade and I couldn't find him - we have a very open, overgrown in parts, garden. After an hour or so, I found him stuck (his collar had got jammed) under a plank of wood (which was overgrown with weeds) and he'd also managed to get his paw through the bottom of the l-shade. In effect, he was three-legged with limited vision and hearing quite apart from being stuck.

If your cat can't get out of the garden, that's fine but if she could make a run for it, wearing the lampshade she could find herself in trouble.

I take it off her to eat and drink as it is easier and she went out this morning for 10 mins without it.

I would not let her out of my sight with it on outside. the problem she is having is bumping into things, of cause they use their whiskers to sense gaps and also with it on, she would not be able to see to the side.

Back to the vets at 9 tomorrow morning, hopefully just for another injection of antibiotics. Her tummy looks a bit better, seems to be drying up now,

I still can't believe that it cost £40 mind you, most of that was for the consultation fee and the cream. The injection was only a couple of quid.

Any injection of Antibiotics and no more vets, she got to keep her lampshade on until Thursday

looks a lot better today.


Sadly the vet was called to a emergency while I was waiting and someones dog died, poor soles crying their eyes out.
