OK this is a bit of a weird one but wondered if anyone can shed any light. Over the last 3 or 4 day whenever i put on netflix my dog seems to react to it. I first noticed on wed she was very jumpy, looking about her, shaking and drooling and just not herself and wouldn't settle. she kept wanting to go upstairs (away from the tv), took me a while to suss it but this reaction was instant as soon as i watched Netflix through a wii. I assumed it must be something to do with a high pitched frequency which i can't hear. it happens if i try to stream on the laptop too. this has only been happening the last few days, before that she didn't have a reaction. once netflix is off she takes a little while to calm down but does and goes completely back to "normal' after maybe 20 - 30 minutes. Unless the vet plays netflix he will see nothing untoward. also no other websites seem to affect her. any ideas ?? Obviously if it comes to it i will just cancel netflix but i want to know the cause of this Anyone had a similar reaction or any ideas ??

My dog would react the very same way any time i used to watch wwe on my tv, if it does come to it just leave your dog in one room & watch netflix in another.

Very strange - highly unlikely that you'd get anything ultrasonic from the the various links in the chain from a Netflix source (the highly compressed audio, the decoding on your Wii/laptop, the TV's sound processing and analogue bandwidth). How's the dog wrt the Wii, in general?, okay until you play a Netflix film? There's nothing funny like the Wii playing full-screen switching between a 50/60Hz mode (far more likely to be discernable to the dog that HF components on the sound). Okay, here's an idea - turn the volume completely down/off and play a Netflix film through the Wii/TV - if the dog is freaked, it's not the audio. If dog is okay, then after 1/2 hour turn the audio up and see if that freaks the dog out.

Completely gave up on netflix for a bit but tried it again last night - same result ! If the sound is muted she is fine and does not react but as soon as the sound goes on it is an instant reaction. Dont use the Wii for much other than YouTube which doesn't affect her and doesnt matter if I play netflix through the Wii / TV or laptop - same result. I have now cancelled my netflix subscription, really didnt want to as loads of stuff on there I was getting into but just impossible to watch without making the dog ill / upset. I will mention it to the vet but without seeing it infront of him I doubt he would believe it let alone have any suggestions.
