Lengthly clash with X Factor tonight, and Brucie's off.

How do we think it'll rate?

I honestly don't know whether anyone, bar the obsessives on here, care whether Bruce is there or not. I also don't think most casual viewers know he's not there.

I still think Strictly will do much better than X Factor again, Strictly is going to back load the show tonight, so I would expect Natalie, Dave, Mark and Ben will all be near the end to stop people turning over to X Factor.

Strictly averaged 9.3m, peaking with 10.6m.

So higher than last week despite the earlier start.

Just goes to demonstrate that the Brucie bonus doesn't exist.

Good that it's still performing well. It's later in the run that viewers tend to drop a bit though isn't it? (from both scd and twit-factor)

I've been watching bits of X-factor as I used to like it - but lawks-a-mighty, it's going downhill fast. That six-seats business was heartless. None of the contestants are doing it for me at all this year. I wish the running order could be changed so X-Factor could be on earlier as the children's programme it is rapidly turning into, with Strictly on at prime time for us grown-ups.

They are a bit hit & miss to be fair - I've posted most of the ratings from all series on the first page so that should give you an idea as to where it usually goes. The huge increases come around the last few shows.

No a lot viewers wouldn't even have been aware that Brucie wasn't presenting. And, besides, you can't judge the effect from one show alone, you need to see the trend over the longer term.

But thinking about it, if the Brucie Bashers are right, then as this is probably Brucies last series, I bet Simon Cowell is dreading next year, when SCD should totally and utterly wipe the floor with XF. They'll be moving it to the Sunday morning slot!

wow amazing. I thought that the Xfactor would win this one; They always do better than Strictly on Sunday.

It was also up on last year's first results show when it faced Corrie, although not by much.

2012: 8.06m (32.5%)
2013: 8.19m (33.2%)

It will be around the same if not lower next week as it faces Corrie, but hopefully after that the results shows can continue to increase on last year, as they were the reason last series' average was down year on year.

2011
Performance Ave. - 9.83m
Results Ave. - 10.53m

2012
Performance Ave. - 10.03m (+0.2m)
Results Ave. - 9.92m (-0.61m)

Not always. For many Sundays last year (along with pretty much all Saturdays), Strictly was beating X Factor.

So the peak came around the time Sophie was dancing... the last five minutes were just the voting details and recaps so understandable why that bit is so low compared to the rest, but the last three couples apparently weren't enough to maintain the momentum, as the only point it was decreasing prior to that was when Fiona was dancing.

Strictly consolidated to 9.33m (+1.52m) last Friday and 10.53m (+1.42m) last Saturday, brilliant timeshifts there. The Friday episode is now up on the last two years. The Saturday show is currently the 7th most watched programme of the year on official figures but that's bound to be surpassed in the coming weeks.

SCD averaged 9.8m and peaked with 10.9m last night.

Most watched show of the day but slightly down on the equivalent show last year.

Massive victory for Strictly last night. Strictly was up 600,000 on last week and averaged 9.8 million compared to X-Factors 7.82, for the first live show. That's a difference of 2 million. Certainly the biggest victory this series so far.

Averaged 9.7 million on Saturday 19th Oct with a peak of 10.4 million

The 9.7 million average compared to X-Factors average of 7.75 million ( including +1). Strictly is nearly 2 million ahead in the averages!

X-Factor tends win the battle on Sundays, but then the Strictly results show is not live.

A really excellent night for Strictly last night.

Peaked at 11 million. Averaged 9.7 million. Up on last week and on last year. Probably the weather helped.

By way of loose comparison, XF peaked at 9.5 million and averaged 7.6 million.
