Animal Friends do mine - £13 a month for 2 cats.

One of them is asthmatic and we have to claim 6 times a year as a continuing condition for her (the inhaler only lasts 60 days), they have only put her policy up by £1 a month since she was diagnosed and treatment started.

My sister uses Tesco and has had to make claims for two dogs in the last few years (one for a broken leg that needed an operation and one for on going medication and vets visits), and she's never had any problems with them.

I was with Animal Friends with my last cat as I liked their ethical stance, but when he had to be hospitalised at the out-of-hours emergency vet over the weekend during his last illness, they said the charges were excessive and would not cover the full amount (although it was within policy limits). I have heard that other people have had problems with them, but it sounds as though they are fine for your case.

I am intrigued, though: how does a cat use an inhaler?

PS: I am with PetPlan for my present cat - not the cheapest, admittedly (I just checked my bank statement and it's £13 a month just for the one cat!).

With great difficulty! LoL

It's exactly the same as a child's spacer, a plastic cylinder with a rubber bit on one end to go over nose/mouth and a hole in the other end where the inhaler goes (exactly the same inhaler as me or you would use).

Little cat (Boo) sits next to me, 1 arm round her (or else she would do a runner!) Inhaler in other hand - hold it over her mouth, press inhaler to inject the drugs into the chamber and after 5 breaths she's off - once in the morning and again in the evening.

It's called an Aerokat, there are videos on YouTube of it in action.
