I am intrigued, though: how does a cat use an inhaler?

With great difficulty! LoL
It's exactly the same as a child's spacer, a plastic cylinder with a rubber bit on one end to go over nose/mouth and a hole in the other end where the inhaler goes (exactly the same inhaler as me or you would use).
Little cat (Boo) sits next to me, 1 arm round her (or else she would do a runner!) Inhaler in other hand - hold it over her mouth, press inhaler to inject the drugs into the chamber and after 5 breaths she's off - once in the morning and again in the evening.
It's called an Aerokat, there are videos on YouTube of it in action.
