Welcome to the Task One Boardroom and sincere apologies for the delay.

Are all candidates here? How did you find this first task?

I enjoyed the first task! Our team got on great. There were no disagreements at all and I feel we chose the right product.

Let's start with Helios. How did you find Justin as a PM? Were there any issues you faced while completing this task?

The biggest issue I faced as a PM was Luke's absence. He really kind of left a lot of loose ends open throughout the task and ultimately hindered our ability to get certain things done in as timely of a manner as I'd have liked. However, I think the rest of my team really held their weight and did a great job. As for how I did, I think I managed with a combination of collaboration and executive authority when it needed to be placed.

I wouldn't say there was any major issues which affected the whole task, obviously it was a shame to be one member down. I thought Justin was a good PM. I admire him putting himself forward on the first task and I felt he had good ideas, listened to team members and made a lot of good decisions.

I think Justin was an okay PM. He could have been worse, but I feel that during the first night there was no real leadership from him and everyone was just throwing ideas into the mix. This resulted in a few ideas which crossed the line and were just too much. There was also some uncertainty in him on what we'd actually decided on for our product. However he did delegate well and was fantastic for team morale and once he found his feet on day 2, he was great

Justin was a great PM! He had a great focus on the task and was very assertive and delegated well. He also often made sure that we were all up to date and had great control over out team and the task. Obviously because Justin lives in America the time difference proved a bit of a problem and there were lots of times that we were online and had to work without a PM, but that was unavoidable really and I don't think it posed too much of an issue.

What made Helios go for a food and drinks product rather than an item, such as a toy or an appliance?

David was an amazing PM. He led the task and managed us very well. He delegated equal amounts of work to everyone without shirking the work himself.

I thought that Carlisle was a very good PM. He was motivating, listened to people and could make a decision when the group was divided. The only reservation that I do have about him is that some of his decisions I didn't actually agree with, which may prove to be our downfall - but then, we don't know the result yet. It may turn out that he was right, and if it does, I completely take back any concerns I had with him.

It was suggested at one point that the balls for each flavour be modeled after a specific planet. Like Mars for Orange(/Strawberry?), etc. Another was that the balls all each be a different shade of the same colour for a specific flavour so that when they dissolved there was a multicoloured cloud. If I recall correctly it was also suggested that they could be two different colours so that they could combine into one nice one.

We went for a food/drinks product because we felt there was a lot more room to innovate it and change it up. With technology, it would be hard to find an item that was discontinued within the timeframe of the task that could actually be changed to fit the current market and still be realistic. Technology has moved on so much over the past 15 years. And we never considered toys as an option.

We came up with the idea of doing a food/drink product early on as it seemed like the right route to go down for this particular task. For something like a toy or an appliance, they would probably be too outdated to successfully bring back, whilst lots of food and drink products are timeless and could easily fit into the market nowadays. We toyed with the idea of doing a technology based product, but felt it would be pointless due to the fact that most of the discontinued technology problems have already been developed recently.

I'd say he did a relatively good job as PM. I give him credit for both volunteering for the role and also coming up with the idea for our chosen product. He did get a little carried away on the first night with the potential ideas for the product, before we had actually set in stone that that was to be our product, but then everyone on the team excluding myself did that to some extent. Apart from that one incident, he was very structured and organised us well after that, so for me, he was a good PM.

David was a really good PM in my opinion. He knew what needed to be done and knew how to get it done. On the first night we were all throwing ideas at each other and he just told us to stop and do it one by one (really good move). He also noticed little things which needed to be changed and overall I'd say David was a really good PM for us in this task.

Carlisle was a really good project manager. He managed the team efficiently, delegated sub-tasks well and made sure to include everybody. When things were going a bit too fast, he made sure to slow things down, and he made sure everyone knew what they were doing.

I think about 5 minutes into the first brainstorm various team members basically said "we aren't going with technology." I felt ruling out technology wasn't the best decision as there's so many products we could've potentially used there. I'll admit at first I wasn't sure on foods/beverages as the majority of the team are young and no one could really remember the taste of foods before 1999. The team were talking about food and drinks and Justin suggested a drink called Orbitz which was unsuccessful at launch, I felt this was actually a good decision to go with it as there was lots of ideas in the first brainstorm session regarding, the space theme we went for, the ball concept, changing the taste and we all felt there was a lot we could improve on Orbitz after researching the reasons for it's initial failure.

To be fair, I suggested two of these as more ways to connect to our space theme (planets was Katie's idea). We ended up nixing them for the quality of the product, but they were just ideas I had. I don't think they're "over the line," though. I agree with why we went for food/drink.
