Saturday night I saw my cat run over but I can't help but feel guilty as I left my house to get something from my dads car.

She was outside my house and I didn't think she would follow me across the road but after getting the item and llocking the car I turned around and saw her sitting on the grass in between the two ways of traffic and I spotted a car coming down the road and sensed something would happen. I tried to call her to me but as the car got close she obviously panicked and ran in front of the car and sadly got hit and died instantly.

I sensed I was in shock as I didn't cry and felt sad because of that but after burying her on Sunday it suddenly hit me. However I can't stop replaying it and feeling as if I should of done something different.

Sorry if I gone on too long just feel this will help me.

Aww I'm so sorry op, I saw a cat run over (not mine) and the gits didn't stop, leaving me to deal with it, and that was bad enough, I can't imagine if I'd had a connection to it. Glad it was quick for her though, if it had to happen, at least she didn't suffer.

Aw, that is so sad, sorry to hear that. The problem with cats is that they do panic. I get worried when I walk past a cat in the same street I live in as it tends to run when ever someone gets near it and sometimes out into the road.

I tend to wait until a car past and then walk past it

How sad. Long experience of cats has taught me that they are totally unpredictable - well, apart from: whatever you don't want them to do is what they do... I doubt there was anything you could have done and whatever you had done might have resulted in the same outcome. There's no way of knowing.

At least it was quick but I'm sorry you had to see it.

I am really sorry for your very sad loss. I don't think there was anything you could have done. Did the driver stop? I sincerely hope so.

May your little one rest in peace.

Thanks for your comments, the driver didn't stop but at least I was there to get her out the road after and knew what had happened.

As a cat owner, I honestly can't think of anything worse than witnessing that. I have nightmares about it happening to my two, every day when I get home, and swing the car into my cul de sac, I fear I'm going to find them dead in the road.

I'm so sorry for your loss

My thoughts are with you too. My youngest son witnessed our young cat being hit by a van. He was totally devastated. Take good care of yourself. It wasn't your fault.

thats horrible. our cat got hit by something last year, came to the door with a smashed up face but luckily healed up ok apart from no sight in one eye and a flat nose.
