Thought Julianne was really out of order but then jazz is an alien concept for a dance I think. Yes, Carrie Anne much nicer. I think Artem was a little down in a subsequent interview. But they're still in the competition and might make the semi finals

I've not had chance to watch any DwtS yet, but did vote - think they might need the help . From a quick scan of one of the US boards people seemed underwhelmed by Artem and Lea this week. I hope they haven't psyched themselves out of the competition.....

This is (hopefully) a better version of their VT and dance etc and the dance off against Alphonso

DQ - I think run(ning) out of steam might be about right. It can't be a coincidence that she's been struggling a bit since her day job started up again - added to a rib injury which must make it difficult not to dance a little carefully. Julianne's comment was a bit unnecessary. What passes for 'innovative' on DwtS I might say was gimmicky, so I was more on board with Len and thought their routine was good, but lacked impact and oomph.

Whatever happens next week has been decided by now, but I hope they can pull out a couple of great performances. I'd hate them to go out on a damp squib - Artem needs to leave the US audience wanting him back .

One of their dances will be a trio with Henry (who was on Afterbuzz). The trios are usually great fun (and one of the better gimmicks )

I can't see anyone but Tommy or Lea leaving next......unless Janel's immunity this week was because she needed propping up .....

Quite a good little piece in today's D Telegraph review section, saying that Strictly has somewhat lost its way, unsuitable songs and music choices foisted on the dancers by the production team, gimmicks, idiotic VTs with no inclusion of the serious training footage. Reviewer still likes the show, but thinks it has lost some of its original charm. Judging by what I have read on here, DWTS is even worse.

I still watch the show a bit, but without the focus of yesteryear!

ETA: Regarding Dwts...
...while I do think it is almost past redemption in some ways, it does one or two things better than SCD. A great main host, vastly superior camerawork and more insight into the training room come to mind.

It's also been interesting to read Tristan's Q & As on his fansite. He mostly seems to enjoy the experience on Strictly more. I get the impression he finds it a more collaborative and inclusive experience (and that would be my outside impression, too - there are definitely some dancers higher up the food chain than others, for example ), but he did remark that Strictly is 'more tightly controlled' or wtte, which seems to chime with much of the grumbling from fans (and James Jordan )

All of the pros have MASSIVE issues with the way they are treated but I understand why they are scared to speak out! Pros are the best

The way they undermined the pros. Dictatorship now. No artistic freedom.

Plus the pros work really really really hard and still get SHOUTED at when trying their hardest with the pro numbers.

However re tonight's show, I have voted for the first time, I loved Simon's routine. Though he rather overdid the personality in the rest of the show.

Off thread have had a couple of lovely days, collecting more wild mushrooms and quinces and was given the most beautiful plate of foraged canapés by a neighbour. A plate of wild garlic pesto, sea lettuce and haricots de mer on toast, chestnut pâté and little glasses of pumpkin purée.

He really doesn't think before he tweets does he!!! I can't imagine the other pros want him saying these things, but maybe they are all fed up. I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't think mouthing off is helping things. I can't see Artem coming back over here any time soon if at all.

I too have used my online votes for the first time. All three to Jake as I think he's in danger tonight. Hopefully Judy will go as much as I like her personality, her dancing is just naff.

As well as the canapés, my neighbour gave me a bottle of her mothers walnut leaves wine, with a warning that it is very strong. After a glass or two checked on google, ingredients, walnut leaves, wine and brandy.

I don't know what to make of the whole DM debacle about Steve and Ola. James has been fulminating (in general ) for weeks, but this seems like something else

Watched the first few dances and then went to a fireworks display (FAB-U-LOUS, as Craig would say). Was a bit worried for Jake so did a few phone votes for him at the appropriate time. Have just watched the rest of the show. Too many ties mean that Judy & Anton at the bottom of the leader board end up with too many points. BBC needs to rethink the scoring, I reckon. Probably a good thing that Artem left the show as he might have been stuck with Judy as a partner (she certainly fancied him). Not sure that Artem would have had the patience for this partnership .

Don't read the DM so not familiar with the Ola story. James is a loose cannon. Shouldn't really bring other Pros into his rants (unless he has prior agreement). Hope DWTS series goes well for Artem as this will have an impact on future earning power in the USA. Have watched a few of the dances with Lea but am put off a bit by their 'touchy feely' on screen presence; she's old enough to be his mother .

James is such a plonker. I saw the article (the Page of Shame online ), it is horrible for Ola if it's all DM fiction, b*st*rds!

Really we don't need James to tell us that the Pros aren't happy, there is a repressed atmosphere about the show now and a lack of passion. Such a shame.

As for the dancing, I was underwhelmed last week although there were some wonderful dances - mainly Frankie and Pixie. Stilling loving Jake, Mark (how his enjoyment makes me smile ) Sunetra and Caroline.

This week I thought Simon's dance was wonderful and my favourites (most of the remaining cast really ) did a good job to. Kevin is now getting on my nerves as I suspect he might be Producer's Pet. Still hating the VTs and the awful musical choices. Perhaps there should be a online petition to give the Pros more control. You can see the struggle they have working with the music choices. Kings of Leon and Paso!

I think it's horrible for both of them (Steve and Ola, not James ). The article reads like mostly made up b@ll@x from 'sources' but I don't know who's doing the making up. If Steve did have reason to speak to producers about their working arrangement, I'd bet it was along the lines of, 'I'm struggling with the demands of doing the show, but I don't want to let Ola down' or something pretty innocuous which lead to a meeting between them all to work out how to keep everyone happy - and some little git has leaked that to the DM to reinvent in the way only it can .

I'm always going to be inclined to think the DM is at fault and full of spite towards the BBC, but the fact (if it is a fact, and not just a James #FACT!!!) that the BBC didn't try to stop the story running and told Steve not to comment, does make me wonder if they have a hand in it. I can't think what the motivation would be though - any press is good press? It can't be (as James seems to think) that they want an excuse to ditch Ola, because they don't need an excuse

In the mean time, Steve is being cast as either a coward (for not refuting it) or a diva for being over sensitive. And as someone on the MF pointed out, if he did have reason to make a complaint, and they breached his confidentiality, what does that say to future contestants? Nobody comes out of it well

I agree James should have left Artem's name out of it for all kinds of reasons.

I loved Simon's QS and applauded from my sofa! It was peppy and steppy and happy. A lovely marriage of appropriate music, choroegraphy and costume, and he carried off the character perfectly .
I like Caroline, but didn't feel much for her waltz (and was distracted by the horrid macrame top ). I could see her shoulders hunching, and found the choreo a bit boring, but she does inhabit the dances which I appreciate.
I also like Jake, but there is something about his dancing that bugs me and I think I finally worked out it was his posture. He's quite round shouldered and it spoils things a bit for me. His saunter across the floor at the start was odd. He was okay, the choreo was okay. It was all just okay .
I unashamedly love Judy. I know she's rubbish, she knows she's rubbish, but I still enjoy her on the show, so yah-boo sucks to anyone who thinks people shouldn't be voting for her Lovely red dress.
Sunetra looked fabulous and I didn't see all the errors in her FT. Why did Brendan make such a big deal of all the mistakes? It didn't strike me as supportive. I think she's great and the dance was beautiful.
The Charleston was up Alison's street and she did just about okay, but it must have come across better in the studio...... I enjoyed watching Aljaz .
Mark's waltz was sweet and I liked the tails. I've loved his dances recently, but am unsure if he's actually the beginner he's heralded as being, so wavering about how I feel about him.
I really like Frankie, and her samba was fine (I thought she got a bit of the bounce in places) but it wasn't as clean as we're used to from her. Kevin is an irritant.
Pixie looked divine in that red dress and I'm slowly but surely liking Trent more each week. His choreo's good and he has a nice, not in-yer-face, sense of humour on ITT. She has a lovely frame and is a pleasure to watch. (The audience clapping dirge-ily throughout spoilt the effect a little )
Steve was a little too forceful in his paso and I was desperate for him to open his chest out and get the shoulders back to help with the shaping, but I guess it's tricky with his build. Ironically, given the stories, I thought they looked good as a partnership on the dancefloor. Ola looked fab and, though I don't usually like the gratuitous shirt-off stuff, I think Steve's costume would have looked better if he'd lost either the cummerbund or the bolero (or both). The music was woeful.

Think Tess is improving and Zoe did really well. The VTs were dire. Truly, truly dire.
