Thought the themes were naff, but I thought Pixie and Simon both did astonishly well with the clichés that are Tulips from Amersterdam and Edelweiss
Caroline was also fantastic.
Really glad that the judges picked up on Kevin's frantic dancing and routine.
I really liked Sunetra's rumba and thought the judges were harsh. But I am no technique expert. I would have Jake and Mark in the dance off if it was up to me.

AW, thanks Clarty. Peeve had no luck (not surprising as she's never met him) and Mr Wrenny and I didn't see him either. I'll find out from him tomorrow where he was sitting and have another look on Iplayer.
Agree with most of your thoughts on the dancing. Kevin really let Frankie down imo. I think he fancies himself as a Jive expert and gave her too much to do. I tried to just watch Frankie but he made it difficult with his over dancing. Didn't get Mark and Karen's Salsa, just didn't work for me and I'm fast going off him.
Loved Simon's Waltz and Caroline's Charlston. Will have to look again at Pixie's VW. The backing dancers were so distracting tonight. Just awful! How Jake is supposed to do an AT to Zorba the Greek!!!!! He committed to it as usual but it was a bit of a mess and Janette did most of the dancing. He could have done with more flicky things! (Techical speak!)

Agree (again! ). He really spoiled the Bollywood pro dance for me, too. Why do they put him at the front all the time? He dances everything like his life depends on it and has no subtlety or finesse. Gah! His dancing is so bloomin' ugly!

Yes, a chap. It was an awful long shot to see him. Peeve thought that as they were both blokes, they might get prominent seats, but I don't think that happened.


He really is the antithesis (sp???) of Artem as a dancer really isn't he. Lack of subtlety and finesse is exactly it. Unfortunately, I think he's here to stay for the forseeable.....

Round the World Week....

Oh, dear, this was about as culturally appropriate and dignified as the Black and White Minstrel Show. The judges hats at the start really set the tone and it never got better. What do we know about Turkey? Hmmmm. Turkish Delight? Err...Turkish baths? I'm surprised they didn't go the whole hog and feature a flipping actual turkey. Cuz, y'know, it's the same word, innit? . Cringe, cringe and triple cringe. I'm so embarrassed for them!
Aaand...
.....breathe!

Oh, and another thing (), enough of the extra dancers. They just get in the way!


Pixie and Trent - VW. VT in North London, song by Max Bygraves, Trent in Lederhosen, a Viennese Waltz. Oooookaaay. Just chuck in some clogs, windmills and cheese. Lots and lots of cheese. No one will ever notice! Thought Pixie was great. Lovely lilting, swing-y, sway-ey VW. Her spins and ballet bits were gorgeous. I even enjoyed the song
Mark and Karen - Salsa. He did the lifts really well, but I not the transitions from one move to the next. Not much footwork from him. Did look under rehearsed. I didn't enjoy it.
Sunetra and Brendan - Rumba. I do love Sunetra, but I thought this was odd. I love the song, but I think you'd have needed a really good dancer to bring it together successfully with a rumba. She still got all my votes though .
Caroline and Pasta - Charleston. 'Theme' aside, the Twenties vibe in the music worked well with the charleston. Really suited Caroline. Great lifts. Loved this.
Simon and Kristina - Waltz. This could have been sugar overload, but I thought it was just sweet enough and rather beautiful. I wasn't keen on Simon at the start, but he's really embraced all the different dance styles and Kristina looks so happy . Lovely.
Frankie and Kevin - Jive Oh, how I wish she was with someone else. She made a good job of it, but he puts me off. I didn't think the choreography was very interesting.
Jake and Janette - AT. Gosh. It could have worked, but I don't think it came off. Bit of a crash-arama of themes (and dancers!)

I think they gave Sunetra a rumba tonight to put her in a dangerous position on the leader board. There are a few dancers who still haven't danced a rumba mark and frankie, but they haven't given them a rumba yet as it might make them dance bad. I did not like jakes dance at all tonight i think he should be in the bottom two.

i personally think they should of done what was done in america - i know they didn't do around the world, but they did do different styles of dance bollywood, burlesque, broadway. i think they should of danced dances native to their country, also there are loads of countries in the world so i don't know why two couples needed to dance to songs from america. Like turkey dance belly dancing.

i think i would also like to see in the next season them do what they did in america and switch partners for one week for everybody. I liked watching artem on dwts but i don't think he was as popular over there because it was his first season but over in england for his first season although he was new he did seem really popular with the public and i feel he was very popular thoughout his time on strictly. I really miss him and would love for him to come back next year or in a future year but i definately want to see him again on strictly at some point in the future. He was my favourite from the time he started. If i could choose one person out of the whole shows history my favourite is Artem - Past female favourite Lilia and my two favourite females now Ola and Natalie.

I think Jake was over marked tonight and sunetra was under marked - in the past seasons to get a 10 the dance has to be perfect but i don't see anybody on this season as good as Kara, Alesha or Natalie i think some judges are giving out 10's for not perfect dances and sometimes getting scores that do not reflect the judges comments. Last week craig said that sunetra dance was good but then scored low. the only dance i think that has been stand out this year is simon and kristina's argentine tango. the rest a bit average.

I can see Mark is irritating some peeps, but he's a simple soul I think and am not feeling the full irritation…yet.

Soooo agree with you about Brenda, he's so quiet and clamped. I suppose I'm used to him being OTT about his partners (in a creepy way IMO) that this silence is a bit shocking to see. Would love to know what's going on.

Caroline still my favourite. I'm liking most of them really, it's an interesting season for me.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in not loving Kevin from Grimsby's dancing. I find his style extremely unattractive and it doesn't help that he seems to be the blue-eyed boy and so features heavily in each pro dance. Poor Frankie just gets over-shadowed by "please notice me" Kevin each week. Susanna Reid's outgoing personality allowed her to give KFG a run for his money, performance wise, but Frankie doesn't have that type of extrovert character. It's a shame as she's a good dancer.

I'm finding myself liking Caroline & Pasha more and more each week.

Now many kartemites seem to like Caroline the best I have to but in to speak up for Pixie. She is my favorite by far. She is elegant, can dance both stiles very well and I do like the new boy Trent. They look lovely in every dance and she shows her personality in every dance.

Caroline is my least favorite dancer at the moment. I do agree she is good but most dances look a little bit stompie and often she is not finishing her lines. Tastes do differ here I'm afraid.

I do like Frankie but Kevin puts me of. He is terrible. To much in the lime light.

Jake was my favourite from the start and I do like Jeanette. His salsa should have scored higher I feel. Still think his pesonality is great aspecially in latin but his ballroom lets him down. He is either to loose or to stiff in ballroom. He can't find his middle way I feel.

Simon improved a lot and he shows more personality now. I don't think he deserved 10's this week. Craig is right most of the times, but not allways (Sunetra). I am warming towards Simon and also like Christina.

Sunetra is a problem for me. I do like her a lot but I do feel she is the worst dancer left and Brendan is a bit flat and quiet. A bit odd. Not a good patnership I think and that is one of the reasons she didn't improve much during the weeks. She could have done better with an other pro I think.

Mark did improve a lot, maybe More then any other dancer, but I feel a bit meh about him. I don't know why. I do think he has a good partner in Karen and she gives him routines he can relate to most of the time. Maybe he is just a bit to happy all the time (although that didn't bother me with Steve)

Pixie has another fan here. Trouble is, I like all the ladies (plus Simon) so can't really say who is my absolute favourite . (Kfg being a big negative against poor Frankie). I'm up and down about Jake, but currently not enjoying him. I really like Sunetra, (partly because of past acting roles and partly because she communicates so well in her performance. I do think she's a good distance behind the others now though. She deserves a medal for being so positive in the face of Brenda's indifference.

Agree with all the above .i do think Kristina and Pasha have nurtured their celebs well while poor Frankies chances gave been all but sabotaged by Kevins over enthusiasm
Pixie is a delight to watch but almost makes it look too easy if that makes sense .
We can't all be wrong about Brendan ... He was so up last year with his partner it's been like chalk and cheese . The judges comments are a bit all over the place lots of praise for effort rather than technique this year ..maybe he's just tired of listening .

Fridgesoup I am totally with you. Although I would like Pixie and Trent to win Most i feel that the top 4 or 5 (if Jake shapes up) are so close that any of them deserves yo win and I would be ok with it. Frankie without Kevin as a winner would be ok too.

Re Brenda and Sunetra, I just feel it's a question of personality clash which is a shame.

I don't think it's ever been so open leading up to the final episodes. Pixie is probably the best technically but the GBP might not be right behind her. I think it's anyones game at the moment.

Hi Karin, I'll echo Soupy in saying it's lovely to see you in here. I think I agree with all you've put except about Caroline.

Have just spoken to my jammy brother. He and his friend were right at the back and behind a pillar to start with and then an usher (or whateve they're called) came along and picked him and his friend and a couple next to them and got them front row seats!!!! Apparently he was front row in the corner next to the stairs opposite from the judges. IE: closest to DaveARch! He had a great time. I'll try and get more info from him when I see him tomorrow.

Still didn't see him...............Sigh!

The three I'd like to see would be Pixie, Caroline and Simon. That would be such a great final imo. I don't think I care at the moment who would win out of those three.

I agree Wrenster, I have the same hopes. All three have celebs who manage to choreograph routines which show the partnerships off to the best. The sum is more than the parts.
With Frankie and Kevin, I don't get the same vibe. Particularly this week, Frankie seemed to be running to keep up.
I did not enjoy Mark's routine, the first time or the second, and was hoping for a miracle, but it wasn't to be.
I thought Darcy looked like lady Penelope.

Me too, I agree with you Wrenny. I have been rooting for Pixie and Trent ever since the beginning of the show, I think they're wonderful together, they make such a believable pairing, I think. I like his choreos a lot, and although he's an amazing dancer himself - as are all the pros - I think he has the ability to make his partner shine, he always makes her the centre of his story. Quite like the chap, I must say. (Funny note: I hadn't heard of Pixie Lott until Artem choreographed that very beautiful waltz for Holly on a very beautiful song sung by Pixie 'you'll have to cry me out'. That's how I became acquainted with her music. The girl after all is only 23! )

Up until now I have liked most of the shows, but last night's was stretching it a bit too far for me: Trent's lederhosen turned him into an Austrian instead of a Dutchmen with clogs on, and I felt so sorry for Jake and Janette: an AT on Greek Zorba music: come on! One of the most beautiful dances spoiled because of the music! Wouldn't sending them off to Buenos Aires have been more appropriate? Liked Caroline's Charleston very much, though!
