i think mark will be out next but although i don't want him to stay in any longer - i would like to see two of the girls in the dance off and see who the judges keep and choose to get rid of - i dont like having four in the final i like it best with just three - they do more dances and they have proper winners and third and second place not two runners up, I don't want an all girl final again though. I want someone that has been on the show a long time to win this year and that is Kristina - I think it is time for a man to win again. When Darren and Lilia were competing i voted for him apsolutely loads and ended up with a high phone bill but worth it to see them win,

Hi monkey, glad our bird talk lured you over. Have been imagining you drunk and pondering Snipe over liverpool, during breakfast. Made a pleasant distraction from OH who was not very lively. I then u tubed snipe mating calls and discovered it isn't a call at all, but a combination of tail feathers and friction. Also realised that that is the strange noise we heard earlier in the year, so will study the sky next year, when we hear it.
Thanks to Wrenny and now you, I am getting more bird savvy .
Wrenny I think it was a snipe as the beak was very long. Snipe is beccasine in French and beccasine sourde is jack snipe. Lots of recettes ( recipes) come up if you search on beccasine

Well, I'm still not hating Mark. I just like his enthusiasm. I know he goes on a bit but I think he's basically a nice guy and he makes me smile - he's like a kid doing hid best and improving…so I can't help having a soft spot for him.
I really wouldn't mind who wins at this point (apart from not wanting Kevin to get any prizes evah!
).I know that Caroline can be stompy but I love her. Pixie is brilliant (loving Trent too) but some of her Charleston last week was just ugly (the legs), Frankie is good but still a bit weak (Wicked her best moment so far), Sunetra so graceful but needs more encouragement I feel, Simon is just getting better (but needs to get expression in his hands to really be brill and poor old Jake suffered from the dreadful theme this week.
In general - not liking the extra dancers, the music, the themes Tess trying to be spontaneous and Kevin. Everything else I'm liking really.

Feeling in smugsville tonight having just done a load of Christmas shopping via the magic of the internet and a credit card (pain free till Jan)
A few thoughts on Sat night :
Not keen on the Round the World thing - please never again, however a Waltzathon does sound an improvement on the Staminathon of the past few years - maybe WarDrobe are just going to raid the Andre Reau Overdressed Orchestra on their way out the door for this one ????
Didn't see your brother either Wrenster, but lucky them getting moved to front row seats, way to go !
I'm with you Noonster on the Mark thing - he is essentially a bounding puppy dog but he does love the whole thing - but still think he will be next out.
Thought Caroline was the best of the night on Saturday, loved that dance, love her and the backing dancers were mercifully relatively unannoying.
Closely followed by Simon, who is my close second fav, what could have been a overly saccharine waltz ended up being the blessed relief of no backing dancer and prop hell which was reaching overload by then - oh and he danced it pretty well in all.
Frankie I continue to like, although not her best dance. Kevin's knees I never want to see again.

Oh and why was Jeanette wearing a dress made out of a tablecloth ???? - I'm sure my nan had one just like that in the seventies.
And because I'm bucking the trend I still find Pixie & Trent just not my thing. Yes she is clearly a lovely dancer (if 'Bot' like ), he's a nice boy but it might be just that the 'niceness' that I associate them with (and I realise that's a fair bit to do with my perception) is just not for me. Well not as my favs anyway but I reckon she will be there in the final.

Me too, I agree with you Wrenny. I have been rooting for Pixie and Trent ever since the beginning of the show, I think they're wonderful together, they make such a believable pairing, I think. I like his choreos a lot, and although he's an amazing dancer himself - as are all the pros - I think he has the ability to make his partner shine, he always makes her the centre of his story. Quite like the chap, I must say. It's funny, I've changed my mind about quite a few of the couples since the show started. Really wasn't keen on Pixie and Trent to start with (either of them) but have gradually warmed to them, particularly Trent. I like his attitude and choreography (except for that Charleston). I hope he stays on for next year. If they insist on having Bobby back then I wouldn't mind him replacing either Brendan or Anton.
I do feel sorry for Jake as he'd said previously that he loved the AT and was looking forward to getting the chance to do it and then they foist that on him!

I started out liking him too. I not sure what has changed my mind to be honest, but I'm kind of finding what he says a bit wearing. Weird but true.
I think Carloine comes across to me as the most genuine of those left. I like Frankie too but just can't get past her partner!
On the whole, I think Tess as done a reasonable job, but it doesn't come naturally to her I feel and this showed up particularly when Zoe was on the show with her. I'm not missing Brucie one little bit.

I just find myself feeling very cynical about him, Nooney. I can't get away from him being a professional reality TV bod who knows how to play the game, and I'm not sure I buy his claims never to have danced before. (Not that I have any actual pesky facts to back that up mind

Simon, liked it. Jacket put me off a bit and Kristina was a bit manic in places. He's good though. Hands still a bit iffy
Caroline, liked it alot. Amazing dance moves but for me, I didn't see an awful lot of connection between them.
Pixie. This didn't work for me. The dress put me off. I actually like love shack as a song

Jake: Didn't work for me. A bit too much slap stick. I prefer a more classy Charleston.
Frankie: I thought she was pretty stiff in this dance. Salsa is supposed to flow easily, it was too forced. Again, tried to block out Kevin and concentrate on Frankie.
I think it could be an interesting decision making for the dance off tonight. Len might have the deciding vote.

Simon and Kristina - AS. I really enjoyed this, though I agree with you Wrenny, his hands are still dodgy and the jacket was off putting. There was a funny penguin-y bit just before the last fumbled lift, but I enjoyed the flavour. The first lift was great and K continues to look very happy!
Caroline and Pasta - AT
I liked this a lot. Lifts were especially good. Agree (again!) it lacked some connection between them and I thought she looked a little 'soft' in her body at times. I wonder what she said sorry for at the end - I didn't see any errors.
Pixie and Trent - CCC
Loved this as a performance overall, but agreed with the judges about her cha cha leg action not being there. I only saw one lift (where she launched off the sofa) and a couple of places where she was obviously meant to keep her foot on the floor, but didn't. It's a bit late in the day for Len to put the couples on notice about lifts, don'tcha think?!
Mark and Karen - FT
Vomity VT. Enjoyable dance. I liked the tails and the music. nicely danced in hold, but I thought the bit at the end was more Eric Morcambe than Fred Astaire.
Jake and Janette - Charleston
I liked this in parts and am agog at Janette's gymnastic skills, but I hate the faces Jake pulls, They fumbled a lift and Janette had to fight her way through his legs at the end, but mostly he did well. not really my kind of Charleston though. Am a bit tired of seeing Jake's family, though I'm sure they're very nice.
Frankie and Kevin - Salsa
Trying to blot out Kfg is hard, but have had a re watch and thought Frankie was good in parts and a bit loosey-goosey in others. The choreography wasn't great and felt like a series of random moves strung together rather than seamlessly flowing, but that's not her fault. Lifts weren't great except for the last one.
waltz-a-thing was fine and they all looked good. I might have given top spot to Frankie, but it's hard to really tell. Seemed right that Jake and Mark were bottom though and I hope that's who we see in the dance-off.
