And thanks from me, Ellie. I'm just working my way through the boxed set of series 1 and 2 of Mr Selfridge so I'll know what the context is for series 3 that's coming. Am a bit of a purist when it comes to history but I am finding it entertaining.
![]() so I don't notice the inaccuracies so much in period dramas.

I just bought a ticket for the Sunday afternoon show in Birmingham. For weeks the website said the matinees in B'ham were sold out. Today, the SCD Live website points you to the venue site for booking and there are now more available seats.
Anyone else going to that show? No banners for me this year and I'll even leave the '11' paddles at home.

Thanks, Ellie. I'm enjoying Mr Selfridge although I'm ignoring the fact that it's based on a real family. 18 episodes down 2 to go!

I was wondering if Kara might be going to appear on Mel & Sue's new ITV afternoon chat show soon, as I noticed she is one of only a few people the show has started following on Instagram. I hope so, as I really like Mel & Sue and remember enjoying their 'Late Lunch' show years ago. Could just be a coincidence though

I've just read the Hello mag article. There are some lovely pics with it, but for anyone who can't get the mag, the gist was:
- She spent Christmas in NYC with her parents and sister. She said the last year has been a massive change and she has been able to focus on working out what makes her happy. - They mention that her split with Artem became public in October, but the split happened much earlier. She says she has been on her own for about a year. She said 'visas are a bitch and the situation couldn't be overcome by anything we could do' and 'you can only try so hard before circumstances take over' and 'the longer you are apart the more normal it becomes. We just drifted apart.' - She says the constant man in her life now is her dog Winston, but her friends keep trying to set her up with people. She doesn't feel the need to jump into anything too fast. She says that the story that she was dating Gregory Fitoussi was bizarre as they were in a massive group but the photos made it look like they were a couple. She doesn't deny or comment on relationships on twitter because 'it's personal and unfair on the people involved.' - She does yoga and says now she is on her own she had to do something about being useless in the kitchen, so she is now obsessed with blending, juicing and baking. - She is still doing wall climbing and is hoping to go on to real rock faces in the future. She is also planning an exhibition of her art this year. - She has rented out the flat she shared with Artem and has temporarily moved back with her parents. She is weighing up where to move to as Hannah lives in East London but she may move into central London so she can go out more. - She said how lovely it was working with Hannah, but the comments on that were pretty much the same as in a few other articles re Mr Selfridge. - She says it was funny filming the Mr Selfridge wedding as Hannah said she looked like a purple mushroom and she looked like a goatherd , but it was 1919 perfection and she praised the costume and set depts.Sorry that rambled a bit , but I thought some people might not want to buy the mag just for that article.

We are very grateful.I appreciate your keeping us up to date and almost single handedly keeping the thread going. I have been quiet as my oldest and then his LTGF have been here and extended Christmas and new year. Now left to go to a very remote part of the world for another year. Summary of recent life in Brittany below drone purchased by son, raised my blood pressure but turned out to be a bonus. Getting us all out on lots of walks and even a beach barbecue and swim. Very sad and shocking time last week. I was very conflicted as my feeling was that the cartoons were not respectful. However the consequence was unforgiveable. I went on one of the marches in order to support the successful attempt to keep the protests out of the hands of the far right. One of the family wouldn't go as they felt that the marches were approving the cartoons. The March in our local smallish fishing town was amazing about 10,OOO people attended. The French tax system has finally found us and we seem to spend our life at the local trésor, negotiating monthly payments. Total about the same as uk, but there are 4 different types. Very quiet here today with visitors waved off from Brest airport, so the article is welcome. The little details about the end of Kara and Artem's relationship all make sense. Happy New year Fridgy and everyone. |
