It'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall when the other pros found out Derek was back I guess Artem knew what the set-up was like on DWTS before he joined so he's presumably ok with it. It must just take a bit of an attitude change from Strictly where he was very lucky with his partners and you know you're never going to get the 70 year old as long as Anton's around I suppose he'll still have the pro dances and its worth it for all the extra work between seasons.

DWTS has live access to the training room. I'm watching Emma and Redfoo at the mo. There's meant to be a schedule to see when they're all going to appear, but I can't see it (or they haven't decided it all yet) but will be interesting to watch Artem coaching unedited

Couldn't let Artems latest pairing go past with out an ..."Eh excuse me ..". do I do a or I often marvel at how he can always smile and look as if he s enjoying it in the many hundreds of pictures he has taken with fans .never looks strained or bored but .. Have to say IMO that's a pretty strained smile with Ms la Belle on his face book page .

I did think one of the reasons for ditching SCD was about how could he top the season he had. with Natalie and perhaps be saddled in next series with a "no hoper " but here he is in his dream job and given the golden oldie . Maybe stylish with rhythm and fun ? But seventy is seventy .is it a waste of his talent .? Or is DWTs for him just about exposure and more opportunities for work and not about winning( or as my cynical daughter says all reality shows are fixed anyway ) . Any opinions on my thoughts ?

I've given up on Mr Selfridge didn't watch before but wanted to see Kara. So far her role is disappointingly small ..but its like the above being seen and hopefully seen in enough of a part to lead to more work . Hoping the hints about being in America mean there is a chance of a movie .

I'm not sure that he wouldn't have been able to top his season with Natalie - when it came down to it they didn't win and he could have gone on to become the first pro to win twice another year. There have been comments from various sources that Artem's goal has always been DWTS but presumably he couldn't join earlier because of his relationship with CAI. I think he must have known how DWTS works and that joining as a new pro in his 30s, with the show moving away from traditional ballroom and with such an established set of favoured male pros, he was less likely to get one of the better contestants than he would be on Strictly. He perhaps didn't expect to get the oldest contestants, but I think it was probably more about money and future work opportunities anyway. When you compare appearing in Maks and Val's shows to appearing with Lisa Riley between series, its sort of understandable


I'm hoping she might have more to do soon - I think she said Serge turns out to be a nice guy in the end and they did have a child, so they should be in it more at some point. I think it is casting season in the US until March, so they might be in LA for that, although Kara never seemed that bothered about working in the US before. LA isn't somewhere I'd want to stay for 3 weeks just for a holiday - once you've done the theme parks there's not much to see, although if you do a road trip around California there's some beautiful scenery

Thanks Karma - Patti does look good for 70 . Do you think we'll get to see any of their training live if they're in Philadelphia? Some people were saying they may not show the ones who aren't in LA like Noah and Suzanne?

Yes Miss Patti does look well preserved for her age. I don't know if we will see them training in Philly. Surely the camera crew must follow them around, so should get footage, but I don't know enough about the logistics of streaming live, to comment on whether it will happen. So far, it has been, contained to LA, we have started to see some of the couples and get a sense of them and their rapport with each other. Think that could give them a head start, with likeability factor and folk starting to consider rooting for them. Kym and Robert are on their second showing tonight, so it could work in their favour. Hopefully the other pairings, whom we haven't yet seen, will catch up and it will balance out somewhere along the line.

I would've thought it would be doable, but apparently they have to have producers and compliance people there when it's live, so I don't know. I suppose its only hard core fans who will know about the live stream and sit through it all, so it probably won't make a huge difference to votes. Otherwise its a shame for the ones not in LA, but as you say it will probably all balance out.

Still don't get why the show feels the need to have golden oldies competing .I think of Zoe's dad ?and why do we golden oldies feel the need to prove what? For me 70 v32 is to big a gap to be taken seriously . Politically correct springs to mind ...offend no one ..
She will be a mover all that rhythm over the years will stand her in good stead lets just hope they don't have to do the equivalent of the pink rhumba .

I suppose they have different ages on to cater for as many audience demographics as possible and the older contestants can make good money for a couple of weeks work. I think you are right that you can't really take the competition aspect seriously with young gymnasts competing with 70 year olds, along with all the producer manipulation. I think the pros must have a more satisfying time on Strictly and DWTS if they can find the joy in teaching someone to dance whatever their age or ability and view winning as a nice bonus if it happens, rather than taking it as a real competition.

I saw a tweet from Louisa Lytton the other day that she'd had drinks with Kara in LA, but didn't mention Hannah so I don't know. I'd have thought Kara must be there for work reasons as she's been there about 4 weeks now, but she doesn't give much away


Yes, I've read that Patti is doing a lot of shows and appearances, so may not have had much time for training. Its difficult to tell much from the pics I've seen. Some people seem to think she's doing it more for the publicity side, but I haven't really read enough from her to know if she's a fan of the show etc. I hope its just rumour, as Artem has enough of a mountain to climb as it is, without adding reduced training time

Yes, she does . As much as I 'have a lively curiosity' (/am nosey ) I think she's very sensible not to plaster all her private business over social media the way a lot of celebs do. I cringe at the ones who share way too much or are constantly self-promoting and posting pics of themselves wearing very little at the beach or in their bathroom mirrors, so in some ways I think its quite nice that Kara just posts the occasional pic of herself with a parrot or whatever, with very little explanation


I think you're probably right She seems a very strong personality and probably wouldn't take well to some of Artem's previous teaching techniques

No mention of whether Kara, Hannah, Leon and Zoe will be back. If the final series is all about Harry's downfall etc. I can imagine Zoe perhaps wouldn't be needed, but I think Harry ended up living with Rosalie and Serge so they would presumably be required unless they're cutting off before that point. Having read how it all ended up it sounds like it might be a bit of a depressing series.
