Wondering if everyone will reappear once the series starts again. I always enjoy reading your views without having to trawl through out there on the main board

Haven't been too enthused about SCD since Artem andKara. lol IMO. With a bit of tongue in cheek thought they should have finished the programme there and then as to me perfection was achieved and not to be bettered

Haven't really bothered with DWTS done a bit of a nosey from time to time to see how Artems doing but it's not for OAPs again IMO He has I feel benefitted big time with his move back to the states. Lots of work a much a much younger audience and atho it all has a samey feel to me it's really opened lots of doors for him . So a good career move .

Sorry we don't have a more news about Kara . Her Twitter is almost non existent and not much else for us to write about on here

However ... This year SCD ..does look as if they have a better than usual list of celebs and i feel quite enthusiastic about it .

Hope it's not predictable who ends up with Anton and the new guys bring flair and excitement .
So here's to the new season hope I can find a couple to enthuse about ,and yes it will be nice if some of the knowledgeable posters come out of lurk dome and we get some laughs and of course lovely Ballroom dancing to enjoy . Hi to everyone

Well done tracynoe and denburn quine I was pondering posting the same sort of thing this morning. I will finally be watching strictly on a proper tele in a room away from OH, who has suffered in not total silence for 2 seasons in our open plan downstairs.
I certainly will hang out here and might even try and avoid the spoiler thread this year.
We are off sailing for a couple of weeks so will miss the launch show.
I am not sure who the last male contestant will be. Slight hunch despite denials that it could be Linford Christie, but probably rubbish.
Invited to dinner by our lovely French neighbours tonight, so our brains will be well exercised. Luckily they go to bed quite early, so we should be able to relax by 10ish

I will be following this thread and Strictly this year again. Like the line-up of Strictly this year and have accepted now that Artem won't be back. No favorite pro for me this year so can relax and watch. Like this thread and the Artem thread a lot and have been lurking this year and followed all the bits of information on Kara and Artem. I will be watching the launch show because I do not know all the celebrities as I am Dutch. I would like to have some basic information on the celebrities I do not know. I watch Eggheads a lot and like Jeremy Vine but I don't think he will be a good dancer. We will see.

Hello all. Nice to see you posting again . I think the SCD cast is decent. Not wildly exciting, but all the women have potential and half the men. No out and out duds or Komedy Kontestants, and some nice looking new pros. Plus, we lose one of the Clifton Clan from the roster. Yay. . Looking forward to it now.

I've got a nasty feeling Artem is down for older lady duty on DWTS again. (A TV cook in her late 60s who got herself into hot water over her use of 'old fashioned' racist language). Keeping things crossed it may turn out better than that, but it would put me off watching... Poor Emma Slater who turned down the pro job at Strictly looks to have the opposite problem and is likely to be paired with a 15 year old boy who puts nonsense on the interweb - and this after a succession of older chaps. Let's hope the money's as good as they say.

I think Kara is on holiday with her family at the moment as someone saw her on the beach and they are currently on a break between filming blocks on Mr Selfridge. She and Matt seem to still be seeing each other but it looks like they want to keep it private, so that could explain her keeping a bit of a low profile.

I agree about the Strictly line-up - I'm not keen on Peter or Jamelia but the rest seem nice. I think Tristan is my new fave pro, so I hope he and Natalie get good partners. I also hope Anton doesn't just get given Carol as the oldest lady as everyone expects.


Another name I've seen is Kim Zolciak - I've no idea who she is but she's had a lot of plastic surgery and apparently would be even worse than the chef lady, so maybe its the lesser of 2 evils

Yes, it sounds likely she's in. Apparently she's one of the endless stream of Real Housewives of.... Not popular either, by what I've read. I never thought I'd say this about Artem, but either of these two would have me hoping he gets an early boot. Still, one or two names/partnerships to come, but they stick to what they know on that show.

After quite a cool and wet August, I'm looking forward to the sparkles and sequins on Saturday. I've registered for the live show ticket raffle on the BBC website so have my fingers and toes crossed for luck this season.

No idea who I'll support. I do like Carol Kirkwood and really hope that she can dance. Will hang my hat here and can't wait to read the many wise (and funny) comments that all you kartemites will post.

Looks like Artem has fallen prey to not being part of the inner circle at DWTS. He doesn't have a celeb after all. I think he must have been bumped down when a 'star' pro's celeb dropped out. Poor Artem got dumped! Dunno if he's in the troupe or not. *sigh* 😏

Meh! I'm disgusted -- he was more or less promised a place and they used that promo shot of him and Peta (who's unfortunately had to drop out because of injury). I've seen complaints about his absence from posters on the official site.

Maybe it's as well though, if the alternative was a not so mobile ageing contestant. Leah was good and fairly capable even if she did need coaxing, and Patti was wonderful in her own way although not finals material, but the organisers really need to let Artem have a go with a celeb with real potential now that he's proved his worth -- the trio with Val and Rumer should have made that clear to anyone who wasn't blind!

Wow, they really do treat the pros like dirt on DWTS. If they're going to let their celebs demand certain partners, they should really sign them up earlier before they announce the pros, rather than let them down at the last minute. I can see why Tristan got fed up of being messed around and joined Strictly instead, despite the lower pay. It must be especially disappointing for Artem if he looks at his friends on Strictly this year, who look like they'll all get someone decent this year from the female line-up.

I dare say there's an outside chance Derek Hough might damage his precious self and need a stand in -- we can always hope!

Louis has known for two weeks and his partner (who it was speculated Artem would get) asked for him, so I think a different celeb was allocated to Artem (Kim or Tamar perhaps) and whoever they had for Val or Tony backed out. They were then a female celeb short and Artem's partner went to Val/Tony. I think an extra male celeb was then added last minute to make up to 13 in total. The whole casting has been chaotic and they seemed to be really scrabbling to sign people - so many of them were last minute. Ruthless and hopeless. Great combo! 😒

It's all speculation I guess about the choosing of partners etc. maybe he was offered an "dud" and thought stuff it . Then again maybe the "thing"he is to be doing with Patti clashes. More money ? Not so hard work ! Ha the guessing is endless... we will just have to wait till the official announcement is made. A lot of disappointed new fans stateside I'm sure .

Nothing from Artem or his fan page. I'm certain he was supposed to be doing the show. He was officially announced, used on the promo poster, appeared in interviews alongside Val talking about the show and he posted an Instagram a few days ago saying he was back at work followed by #dwts (although he looked oddly fed up about it), so I feel sure, that whatever happened was last minute. I hope he does have other irons in the fire. If he isn't in the troupe (which seems likely), it will be a big drop in income all of a sudden. I hope he's okay, whatever has gone on.

It is not clear what this means. Will he still be dancing on DWTS. What does he mean by ballroom? I don't like the line up of DWTS this season. To many old or very young "celebs" and most of them are second or third rate. As Artem is not a pro for me there is not much point in following DWTS. I will concentrate myself on Strictly. Wouldn't it be great when Artem would come back to Strictly.

It means that he will be dancing in the professional team, but not partnering a celeb. The DWTS ballroom is the dance area where the show happens. Simples!

I'm afraid he will probably stay there as long as there's a place for him on the team, since he's now an American citizen and established with DWTS, although I suppose he might change his mind if they don't give him a celeb to dance with in the next series or two.

Thanks Gerry for the explanation. So he will be doing some dancing but it is a shame he didn't get a good celeb this season so he could show off his enormous talent for dancing and choreografy. A waste of his talents I think.

I quite agree with you! You'd think they'd realise his worth by now, but I guess there are too many long established male dancers to kowtow to -- I suspect one of those lost a celeb so they were given the one earmarked for him.

This seems most likely and, reading between the lines of Val's tweets in the run up to the reveal, I think he's the one who got Artem's partner. Shame, as she looks to have a bit of ability.
