I finished watching the SOM this evening and was chuffed for Kara. Her singing.voice was incredible.

nina - you probably won't see this, now, but I sympathise about (not)watching . I've never been able to get through he whole film of the SOM before, but did it in four chunks for Kara's sake this time. She was impressive. Hope you're well. Missed seeing you about the place this year

Is Kara and Hannah going to be in Mr Selfridgw season 4 next year. Their names don't appear in the cast line up?

Yes, Kara appears in the advert that has recently started showing on ITV and she posted a few photos from the set during filming. I think Hannah said in an interview somewhere that she would be too. I should think they will both have reduced roles though as the series has moved forward 10 years or so and is focusing on the Dolly sisters etc. and I think Hannah's character was living in another country by that point.

Looks like Kara will be on Loose Women Friday 8th Jan. Probably to publicise Mr Selfridge starting that night, but will be nice to hear how she feels about TSOM as well .

Thanks Quite surprised they put it up before its been shown on TV. I wondered if it was a combo of bad lighting and the unflattering outfit that made Kara look like she had been aged in that first scene, as she looked great in the scene towards the end with the newspaper guy. Looks like Leon Ockenden might have been written out this series - a shame for him, but I guess he may have wanted to focus on other things.

Looking forward to seeing Kara on Loose Women tomorrow (and glad she's not appearing on one of Katie Price's days on the panel )

Well I posted on forum after seeing the first scene with Kara and there was a marked difference in appearance later on in the episode, when she was at the store, so either continuity was not so great, or she's like some of us, who make more of an effort once we are out the front door!!!. Ohhh err the ending, felt quite queezy with Harry, won't say any more and spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet. Was that poetic licence or a true occurrence?

Yes not a LW fan, usually avoid show if I can help it, but will tune it at some point, for Kara. Thank goodness indeed she has swerved KP interviewing her, shudder.

Thought it was a really nice interview on LW today . Felt sorry for poor Kara at the end trying not to say anything to offend anyone - I'm not sure what Jane was trying to ask her but its difficult when she's friends with Kristina.

It was a bit awkward for Kara, not to get tripped up regarding Kristina, glad the interview ended when it did.

Well Kara's answered the 'drab look' question then, although what I saw of the last series, she didn't look particularly dowdy. She made me laugh, when she said, she tells Hannah, she looks nice in her outfits. Even Mae was toned down, now her circumstances have changed. Perhaps ITV have cut the costume budget too, I always feel the sets and clothes add a lot to period dramas. Hopefully she will get better outfits somewhere along the line, although she looks good whatever she wears.

As you say, its probably to do with budgets and there are quite a few new characters this series. I think she looks lovely here, so hopefully the outfits are not all bad

You've gotta grimace at DM doing an about face, reporting (use the term very loosely) how she was misquoted, as you say, regurgitating some tosh by another journalist, they just rehashed and printed, at the time. Can understand Kara being wary, what she says, she must have to really edit herself before speaking. She's such an open person, so must be doubly difficult to watch what you say. Even when she's interviewed on tv, it can somehow get mangled and by the time other media outlets pick it up her quotes and words are not necessarily accurate.

Thak you Ellie, lovely photos. Laughing and smiling so naturally. Such a contrast to the rather strained or forced smile you see when she is posing in front of an advertising board at a do (pet hate those boards) or being papped.

I know what you mean about those boards - I think I'd just end up looking like a startled rabbit if I had to stand in front of all those paps.

It struck me looking at the photos what a good job the set designers on TSOM did - they really got a feel for the abbey etc. It would be nice if they were nominated at the Baftas - I'd guess they might be at the TV Craft ones, but maybe it would qualify for the Live event TV Bafta. It looked like such a massive undertaking watching the 'making of' documentary, it would be nice if they all got some recognition .
