That does sound..........potent! Steady! 1/2 hour to go!

Now I know why the Roman Empire fell!

Sounds good .
I've got a choice of Rioja or Rioja.

Hope Clarty likes Rioja.
Sans doute!! And here's to Gregory Fitoussi!

Only five minutes to go. Just about to pour out a glass of wine for the show. Cheers to you all.

I'll probably be hanging out on this thread for this series. Might as well just stay at home.

Hi all, Hi crazy!

Forgot that first night was tonight...despite the daily countdown.

First dance by Ashley and one of the few men, first out, that has been cringe-free for me. Huge potential.

Hm, so much potential going on with this lot.

Nat and Arty did well but I just loathe that track so much it was hard for me to bond with the dance. Didn't like Artem's Panto cossack gear either.

Thank you for those wise words, as ever. I loved her arms, her attitude, his dancing with her, but the music, dears, the music But all in all a very good first night!
Sweet dreams and see ya' tomorrow!

I agree with all your points and it was hard to ignore Nat is practically a pro so I didn't feel a connection in a willing them to do better kind of way either, sorry.

Great to see your comments Nooney. I've got to have an early night but will hope to post my thoughts some time on Sunday. I'll need to watch both shows again on Sunday. I can never take it all in live! Night all!

- Knock knock
- Who's there?
- Poleanna
- Poleanna who?

Ekhm... yes... many, many moons ago that name did ring a bell

I've not posted anything for what seems like forever but I do check this thread every once in a while. I like to be in the know, you know, even if I'm not a 'supafan' anymore. My attention span is probably on par with Julien Oh My Godet Macdonald's

I'm looking forward to this series. Even JOMGM doesn't get on my nerves too much. Yet. It may have something to do with me not watching ITT last year... Zoe's overhyped style of presenting is not much to my taste, so I missed Julien's gig I *love* Natalie so I'll probably be posting in the 'NatArty' thread. If I can be bovvered If not, I will just keep an eye on you lot. So you better behave!

Mwah!

Hello poleanna, do come in...

Twas a great first show, so much to enjoy and lots of potentially good, entertaining and engaging dance partnerships. While Nartem stole the show at the end, Susanna, Sophie, Mark and Ashley were impressive and exhibited lots of promise.

How tangoed was Arty and the bling teeth at the end- cringe! Natalie certainly is confident and sassy on the dance floor which is exciting to watch and as Craig said the clear 'front runner'.

Mark - striving not only to be the comedy act but keen to grasp the technique - fun to watch
Ashley- perhaps not as good as I thought he would be although not sure if that was because of the routine (I didn't like it) or just first show nerves.
Susanna- another confident, sassy act. Her jive was ok (thought Kevin out danced her so he will have to check that in the future) but she sold the performance
Sophie- She looked so delicate and performed a beautiful routine. She has Kara's long ('monkey') arms and her attitude was a delight.
Tony- Bless, he smiled all the way through and is in it for the 'adventure'. Me thinks he will be hot trotting back to Florida sooner rather than later.

Sorry for this heretical post, but I find that Strictly is not beguiling me any longer. I cannot bear Bruce and I hated the sight of mahogany Artem in that travesty of a costume. I may record the next few shows and whizz through them but I don't think I shall be back. Farewell all lovely Kartemites

You do know this is a cult and you're never allowed to actually leave, don't you?

No need to watch Strictly - or even post about Kara and Artem - just make sure you stop by occasionally and say hello .

I have been wondering what my contribution to the thread could be to day while not quite ready to throw the towel in I must admit to being a bit underwhelmed last night .Hopefully more from the show tonight .the gap between Natalie's performance and the rest was embarrassing . Thought Artem looked awful in that costume ,the socks ,and his colour he did say once it was like oompa loompa ? And when they zoomed in on his teeth .The judges ..Craig in particular was boringly predictable .so maybe I am all strictly outed too .
Can't take anything away from the performance of the night .just felt it wasn't a performance of a beginner .So Rosamunda kind of know where you are coming from .but hope hope we are both just suffering from too much expectation I was so hyped about it . Pleased Artem has got someone to work with to show case his talent . Memo to costume department ..must do better

I really enjoyed last night. I would have preferred Artem without the outfit but have decided not to over analyse (spelling?) this year and just embrace the campness of SCD!!!

Yep, what would Strictly be if we didn't all cringe at various points of the show.

I can understand why some can't take anymore but there is still enough for me to like (and make fun of ). It was only the first show and Kartemites on this tread MORE than compensate for the weaknesses in the show. I'm here for the duration.

Had to google GF. I see the appeal . Might give Spiral a look-see if it comes back .

(Embarassingly, owing to some dubious Big Brother viewing back in the mists of time, whenever I see 'spiral' written down, I have to say, 'SPOIRAL!' out loud in a hokey Irish accent )

Phew, glad you're hanging in there Noonster

I felt strangely underwhelmed by last night's show and am putting it down to not managing my expectations properly .

It's very rainy and windy here - perfect excuse for a bit of afternoon telly and a rewatch .

Oh dear, it's the most glorious autumnal day here. Having been basking in sunshine all day I've popped in to catch up before heading out again.

Really sad to read Rosamunda's post

Whilst Brucie is well past his sell by date and is just , well, just dreadful, the show still has enough sparkle to keep me interested. I lowered my expectations along time ago.

This thread is, as Soupy says, more than just an appreciation thread for K&A and I really do hope you will call in again Rosamunda.

Did you see the tweet bbc strictly posted of 'Russia' s greatest love machine'
