Just getting over a stinking cold and catching up with ITT.

I don't see the Artem awkwardness - I was much more perturbed about him last year with Fern *shudder*. Actually, I'm thinking that Artem might always be 'on' on TV and not ever really himself (guarded). But I don't know him, have never met him and so this is only guessing. I wonder is he just more generally at home with the whole format of Strictly and just more accepting about the whole rig and marole and just going with the flow.

Am I feeling Natem? Not really but then I'm not really expecting too either. I haven't really 'felt' any of the Artem combos since Kara and so nothing is new here for me. I like Nat well enough and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with

At this point I like a lot of the couples - this is unusual for me, I think - and I'm really interested to see how each partnership progresses. Least favourites are Julian McDonald, Patrick Robinson and Susanna Reid (last two only marginally uneasy about). So far so good for me.

BTW, does everything think that ITT is a bit calmer and better this year?

I've enjoyed ITT so far. No OTT features with people like Julian gushing about crystals. I like the costume lady who was on today. Also, no sign of Lisa Riley so far . Perhaps they are saving her for Friday!

wliag43 As always lovely to see a picture of Kara.

[B]7seren7 Great verse as usual.

SO agree Noonie. Perhaps one day there may be another couple that will entrance us in the same way???? Hope you'll be feeling better soon too --you & Eselle are a pair well met!!

Tomorrow I have a flu jab & one for shingles, then we spend the day in the Wye Valley with the munchkins so will miss Strictly live, as it's dead on bathtime! No doubt I'll catch up on Sky+ before going to bed though. Hope it's a great show.

Morning .i browse the threads after I read our local paper . Saw the link to the jack Vetriano exhibition . Brought a smile to my face to read that Kara's dad went with her . That confirms all I feel about her . Well done Ken
I think we do all sing from the same hymn sheet on this thread . .and like good friends we share our slightly different take on things knowing that at the end of the day we have Artem and Kara's best interests at heart He has in his own words got the jackpot regarding his partner.sure all their dances will be amazing .I've a sneaky feeling Brendan has got a surprise jackpot too interesting times ahead .

Thanks Wren

Noone - sorry about your cold. I think ITT is calmer, but she has so much to get through at the start, it may just be 'head down and crack on with it'. Also, in the main show, they've dialled down the comedy VTs and just had some of the couples acting up a bit (like the thing with Natalie being the slave driver). I'd still rather just see training footage, but it's a step in the right direction and a lot less naff.

Sorry to hear about your cold Nooney. Yes, so far am enjoying the more focused ITT. Hopefully it will continue in this way. No sign of Lisa yet.............

Apparently Bruce has Flu and wont be doing Strictly tomorrow. I don't know who they might have instead at the moment.

Edit: Looks like he'll be replaced with Claudia.

Hopefully Claud can step in. Feel this is definitely going to be Bruce's last year (on the show!). Hope he gets well, but I wouldn't mind one bit if he felt he needed to rest up for quite sometime.

Yep, I definitely feel a shift to calmer and being more about the dancing.

Naughty Nooney! I don't wish him any ill, but they'll probably get through ALL THOSE DANCES on Saturday much quicker with Tess and Claudia at the helm.

Looking forward to tomorrow's show. Maybe they should just leave Claudia to it every week?

Seren, finally got around to reading your poetry. Great job! Strictly wouldn't be the same now without your contributions

It really sucks when you have a head cold. Hope you're feeling better soon, Eselle

Strictly Series 11

I’ve been waiting in anticipation,
For Strictly to begin again.
Series 11, can you believe,
As I pick up my trusty pen?

The hype this year has been eventful,
The launch show all of a-glitter!
A decent bunch of celebrities,
Their heartbeats all of a-flutter!

Partnerships were formed that night,
But not only new celebs,
Five new pros had joined the team,
I’m sure there will be no plebs!

With 3 weeks of rehearsals ahead of them
The couples had had a great night,
Some of them happy, some of them not,
Some had had a bit of a fright!

The first show was on Friday night,
Tess in a bright yellow dress,
Brucie fluffing his lines as usual
Every line a bit of a mess!

First up were Ola and Ashley,
Both a vision in pink!
Quite a competent Cha Cha,
In the show quite a while, I think.

A change of mood with Tony & Aliona,
A waltz was their first dance,
A lovely man who tried so hard,
But mistakes we saw at a glance.

Mark & Iveta’s dance was a Tango
A surprise to me, I must say,
This couple quite charmed me,
I hope they’ll go a long way!

An energetic jive from Suzanna,
And Kevin, a Strictly new boy,
Lots of very fast movements,
To watch was absolute joy.

Brendan & Sophie’s waltz came next,
An elegant but careful dance.
( Not keen on the short ballroom gown,
The flash of knicker did not enhance.)

Our man Artem’s Cha Cha was next,
Natalie his partner in crime.
I laughed out loud at his outfit,
It would look good in a pantomime!!

But as usual Artem’s choreography
Was intricate, stylish & bright.
Natalie danced with precision & flair,
By far the best dance of the night!

On Saturday the rest of them danced,
What on earth lay ahead that night?
Another disastrous dress from Tess,
I wish she’d get these things right!

Ben & Kristina danced first, all in red,
Kristina did her usual thing,
She Cha Cha’d around her partner
While he stood there in his bling!

Fiona & Anton’s waltz was pleasant,
Nice to see Anton with a chance.
Once her nerves have settled,
I think Fiona will show she can dance.

As soon as Karen & Dave took the floor,
The laughter began from the crowd
I’ve never seen anything quite like it,
Watching my TV I laughed out loud!

Their Cha Cha was a revelation,
As Dave threw himself around.
Karen seemed helpless with laughter,
Another favourite I seem to have found!

An elegant waltz followed this mayhem,
Danced by Rachel the numbers girl.
Demure & beautiful; gracefully danced,
As Pasha made her spin & twirl.

Next came the madness called Julien,
Him of the ridiculous bling .
Janette& he danced down a catwalk,
Of crystals he is the king!.

The dragon we know as Deborah,
The Tango with Robin she danced.
A very creditable performance,
For a Tango she had a good stance.

Our Casualty actor called Patrick,
With Anya, danced a great Jive,
Rhythm & stamina all very good,
They made the place come alive!

Vanessa & James in fluorescent pink,
Cha Cha’d rather a plodding dance.
Must admit I expected fireworks
She thoroughly enjoyed her prance!!!!!!

Abby & Aljaz’s beautiful Waltz,
Had they kept the best ‘til last?
Stunning, romantic and elegant,
That night they would not be surpassed.

So there we have it, all have danced,
All have tried their best.
Some were great, some were daft,
Next week would be the test.

Next Saturday we, the public, vote,
It will be interesting for us to see,
Who has the biggest fan-base.
I know who does it for me.

Hairy Dave and Karen for laughter,
Iveta and Mark for joy,
Kevin and Suzanna for enthusiasm,
But Artem’s still my favourite boy!

So I wish them all the best of luck ,
But for now my vote goes to Artem.
He & Natalie are great to watch,
This new team we now call Nartem.

Looking forward to Saturday but may have to Sky+ it,as it may be the only day we can see the munchkins , & they always come first!!”

Just catching up...wow Seren another epic. I hope Wrenny and Soupy gave you A*. A wonderful poem. It's a 10/10 from me Thank you.

Thanks SQ I've registered, but I can't find where the 5 votes mention (rule) is. Is that 5 votes over the whole series or 5 votes on each Saturday or what? Any help gratefully received!
