Just been to cinema to watch Blue Jasmine. Last Passenger not playing in this area. Just catching up on the results show. Artem is in a class of his own with the dance he did tonight!

I hated the outfits and styling last night for Nartem but the dancing and choreography were brilliant. In fact all the outfits on the show were bad. The only frock I liked was Karen's. Culottes/ trousers should be banned for the women.

I saw that film last week. Cate Blanchett was brilliant, a fantastic performance.

You're right about Artem

Great reviews Nooney, nina-s and Wrenny. Agree with most but especially about Bruce.
Lovely reviews. Lazy way out but can't better them.
Didn't mind Rachel's trousers but found her rabbit caught in headlights persona, truly gringeworthy , or even cringeworthy. Someone needs to do the kind thing and send her back to countdown.

Flamin heck, that routine by Artem and Janette was absolutely sensational, the best lift tantastic I've ever seen Arty perform. Red Hot!
Really, really enjoyed that. Thankyou Artem and Janette (I think)

Ramblings....

Sophie - FT - she looked exquisite. A straight forward, no frills, fairly slow FT (nowt wrong with that). Something a bit funny going on with her head/neck position as if she wanted to give a dreamy feel, but wasn't necessarily in the right place. Lovely though.

Fiona - rumba - Anton makes me cross. Everything that could be wrong with this, was wrong, apart from her hairdo and dress.

Mark - CCC - Mark can certainly dance. I have no idea if he can dance a cha cha . I enjoyed it anyway.

Ashley - VW - it was sweet. Bit slow, bit dull.

Julien - salsa - well, he's gone and it was probably the right decision, but I didn't hate this at all and think he danced much more than Ben in his salsa. If he could stop shrieking, I might even say he was okay! Gracious exit and nice words in the after show thing. I'll miss him a little bit.

Rachel - QS - hmmm, not Pasha's finest hour. I think he gave her too much to do (though she did do it better in the DO). I hope the dance-off-shock effects some kind of change, because these two are not working for me at the mo .

Ben - salsa - a Kristina showcase and he's very strong. Overly generous marks/comments which were a smack in the face to Julien. Why did oily-rag Ben wear a dress shirt and dancing Ben strip to his vest? Should have been t'other way round....

Deborah - jive - my least fave of the night (coming after her fun QS last week!!). It was never going to be a corker, but did they have to give her horrible styling, concept and music? The Tesspit and 'shaggy' sound fx were the best bit

Natalie - QS - awful styling, but I didn't mind the music and on second viewing, there's a lot more in hold than I remembered. Fab job from them both, but still found all the layers of style a distraction. Less would have been more.

Patrick - CCC - first time I've sat up and taken notice. Has a natural groove (albeit I found some of his hip action a bit camp rather than sharp) and Anya was foxy more than tarty imo . Hopefully these two have finally arrived....

Abbey - tango - loved this, but might have loved it a touch more if there had been slightly less frock. Like Nina, I quite like Abbey's mardy face!!

Dave - waltz - tepid, but I enjoyed seeing him do a serious dance. It was a bit 'week one', but I'm still on board the Hairy Dancer train. Just! Karen looked beautiful and had the best dress of the night (though Sophie could fight her for it).

Susanna - samba - I didn't really like this. Messy and Kev's shoes/flat feet distracted me. I still like them, but one to forget and move on from, I think.

I had Bruce on FF but caught the bit with him giving Ashley a hard time for wearing a vest. So uncomfortable. I'm with Noone, having to ff through his bits spoils the flow. It really is time to call it quits.

WarDrobe clearly made an impact...

Sophie looking all Hollywood Glamour in a dress Lady Edith might wear if Lady Edith’s dress was a sequinned squid that had just eaten a flamingo.
Should we mention Anton's Rumba trousers? No, let's leave it.
Oh no, Rachel’s wearing trousers! Everyone knows that trousers guaranteed a swift Strictly exit for female celebs, did we learn nothing from Pendleton? They’re also mustard, and paired with a leopard-print waistcoat and a red Frisbee hat thing. Imagine how foul that sounds, then double it.
Robin, however, looks like Geoffrey from Rainbow in a lego wig.
Out they come, with Natalie wearing several horrible monochrome dresses in one, and an up-do inspired by Vanessa’s hair pastries from last week.

I thought the acting was very good by all the cast, the little boy was adorable. I think the biggest compliment to Kara is the fact I forgot it was her I was watching.
Thanks for your review tracynoe - glad you enjoyed the film

Oh Lor. I'm so grumpy but these bliddy VTs are killing me.

Julien - I didn't mind it. I can't believe I'm saying this. It was a mess but (like Deborah) he just seems to love it so much.

Rachel - not sure what it is about her. Hm, she looks a bit off kilter a lot of the time. She looked as if she was being dragged around a bit too. Is she too tall for Pasha.
Sorry to chop you up, Nooney, just wanted to especially agree with the BIBs . I don't know what to make of Rachel and Pasha. Perhaps I'm being overly influenced by half-jokey comments elsewhere, but I do wonder if P isn't getting exasperated with her lack of ability (or something). I certainly think he should simplify... She seems a bit lacking in personality, too. I mean that in a TV persona sense, because I don't know her in 'real' life, but not sure what she's bringing to the table at the mo .

I get what you mean about Bruce, he is getting increasingly like some random old bloke who just wanders about shouting at people, this is not a good presentation style in anyone's book. Surely but surely this has to be his last year ???

Abbey my second fav, not the sharpest tango but there was a presence about it, she moved well and I am beginning to love her total 'mardy face' looks in the Tess pit.

My favourite dance from Patrick, he also seemed to really enjoy it which also helped.

Julian I thought at least gave it some welly (and some hips) and although I have declared an avowed dislike to him I will be woman enough to say that I preferred him to Ben, who spent most of time chucking Kristina around. Ben remains lovely as ever, and has great guns but there was a huge amount of window dressing in that dance.
Likewise- sorry for the chop-arama, Nina. Enjoyed your musings and especially agreed with these bits. Bruce

Sophie She kept a great frame thoughout. Enjoyed it. Quite understated. Nice frock on a bad War Drobe week!

Julien - You could see he's trying and working hard, but I didn't really enjoy it that much.

Patrick - This is the first time I've enjoyed one of his dances. Good Cha Cha though I thought his hips were a bit stiff. Wasn't keen on Anya's look! A bit tarty.
Wren, I agreed almost competely with what you said , so just highlighted a few bits where I didn't! I thought Sophies frame (maybe her head/neck?) was a bit off. Liked Julien's effort and thought Anya looked hot .

To be fair, Julien made a great exit. Will I miss his mega watt smile and high voltage voice - no, but he was gracious in defeat. He really did have the time of his life. Janette was the perfect partner for him, I hope she returns next year.

Rachel will be vulnerable now. She looked upset, bless they all really seem to love it
BIB Agree. Julien was never going to become my fave (and I won't miss the voice!), but I'm pleased he turned the tide at least a little.

I wonder if Rachel can find some ooomph! from this or will she crumble?

I think Anton has become lazy over recent years. Love your comments about Mark and Julien and quite agree. *shudder* at the memory of Bruce plucking at Ashley's shirt and shouting at him like a demented old fool.

BIB - not a concept that Strictly WARdrobe understand...unfortunately.

Yep, I'm getting that feeling too. I think Pasha is a bit exasperated. I also get the feeling that Aljaz feels the same about Abbey, but her saving grace is that she delivers the goods. Not a fan of her mardy face I'm afraid...her touch of princess sort of puts me off her slightly. Beautiful dancer though.

Watched ITT - have to say it was lovely to see Vinthent. I just love him, he's so funny.
