Ah, I've just watched the show and it was weird not seeing the usual familiar faces.
Very glad Brucie has mainly hung up his taps, sooooooo glad.I'm not sure who to support yet, there seems to be a lot of very nice peeps and so I'm happy to just enjoy this year. My main concern is how to keep up with all my old muckers on DS, I just hope we all end up supporting the same celeb/pro. It wont be the same if I don't have a 'home' somewhere on here with all the lovely swoonies. Recently back from holidays so still playing catch up, not helped by also whacking my foot against the ruddy door frame which resulted in a broken toe (and language that can be best described as being like an over-ripe brie left outisde on a hot afternoon ) and catching a stonker of a cold. Still have manged to catch up the Strictly launch show (& Bake Off) in between all the hobbling around and snuffling - it's like being a defective hedgehog. Loverllly to see the old swoonsters back again (not old as in age before I land myself in ) so I'm quoting Nooney as I'm too lazy to think for myself right now . Thanks as ever to Wrenny & Soupy , and errr anyone else I may have missed, for keeping up the thread with posts that I'm trying to read back over right now. Wrenster I agreed with a lot of your run down of the couples, particularly Pixie & Trent who just seem monumentally Ken & Barbie to me, still 'tis v.early days. Already liking Claudia hosting with Tess and not missing Brucie but I actually thought they did the handover pretty tastefully and without over-milking it (by a Brucie definition of over-milking anyway) Quote:
Hello Swoonies
, lovely to see you all still here, Waves to Noonie , fridgie, Wingi, ana, wrenny and all the old gang.Managed to watch the opening show live , didn't see any of the last series until it was finished but am determined to join in again this year. I even know one of the contestants........ Scott, he is lovely so I hope he manages to stay a few weeks even though he can't dance.![]() And just so I know that all is well in Strictly DS land there's even a good old thread on the main page about Aliona being rude - it's like nothing ever changed

Hope I'm not repeating this news - I checked back a couple pages and didn't see it. Artem will be doing two back-to-back Caribbean cruises on Holland America, each a week long, 29 November through 13 December:

I've never, ever fancied going on a cruise, but....hmmmm.
![]() Len's even more inconsistent on DwtS than he is on Strictly. Anything could happen! Have to admit only really keeping an eye on DwtS through your snippets, thanks as ever ! |

And some chest it is too loads of pre show publicity coming up on his fan page. Makes SCD look almost sedate by comparison ![]() Stiff competition for him and his celeb .but he looks up for it .. There are lots of stunning male dancers with good chests in the states I wonder if he will capture the hearts of the fans as much as he did here. Think it will be a different fox trot from his first with Kara which sent me on this journey of support and interest in his career. Fingers crossed for a long stay is it the same as here public plus judges ? Always lovely to see Kara in the limelight . Wonder if her stage show with her friends will get off the ground .. |

It all works in a similar way with judges marks and public votes although they take the judges marks as a percentage of the total marks, and add those to the percentage of public vote rather than use a ranking as we do here. Sometimes it seems that's fairer and other times not.... They used to have a live results show on the next night, but that has been ditched (well - it's back for the first two weeks, so someone will be out on Tuesday ). Without the results show, the public are actually voting on the previous week's performance combined with the judges marks for the current week, which can be odd . (It has to do with the time zones in the US).Quote:

Frankie: First steps
Apparently (says someone on the MF) this was on day one of training. She looks great! I'd had a look at some Frankie-dancing before the launch show - just Saturdays step/pose/wiggle/pout stuff - and really wasn't impressed, but I took to her on the launch show. She seemed excited and enthusiastic (at least compared with a lukewarm Pixie). Not a massive fan of Kevin, but lots of the pairing are less than ideal (from a Soup perspective ), so I might find myself rooting for her anyway.I really want to support Judy, too. She's with Anton. Am in crisis .

I'm also with you on wanting to support Judy but.................. ![]() PS: madly sends some waves and hugs up north to Nina

There was also genuine beauty and tenderness whenever they danced ballroom. No partnership has ever looked quite so natural or perfect for each other as they did. But it wasn't just the bubbling romance and Artem's red-hot routines that made Kara special. She had the ability to hop between Ballroom and Latin, she possessed stunning grace and poise, and she also had incredible power and fire when she performed. Nobody has ever matched her performances from four years ago. Maybe someone in the Class of 2014 can top her.
