It's funny looking through all those Pride of Britain celebs just how many of them have appeared on Strictly.

(Wonder what the collective noun for a big gathering of celebs is... a red carpet of slebs? A preen?

Clarty, if you get good at this Breton dancing is there a costume you can wear? Will there be photos

Nooney - thanks for your thoughts on the show. I'm especially in agreement with you about Caroline, Sunetra and Thom. (He's like a shop window mannequin. I'm so disappointed).”

Fridgy. I love the preen. A sort of opposite to the description of me and Breton dancing mine is a plonk
Yay Nooney great thoughts, thanks for doing your homework, I can hide behind you. I can say that as Wrenny seems to have disappeared

HELLO!!! and thank you to everyone for keeping this thread such a comfortable place to visit.

OK was joking about the nervously (for Clarty)

Well it's a mixed bag this season - I didn't like Jake's salsa, especially the bit at the beginning when he was on his own wiggling, I'm sorry. It was just wrong - and I can't pinpoint why...can anyone help please?
I detested Anton's choreography and his execution of the cha cha was worse than many celebrities IMHO, sorry again. A few other lowlights - Scott & Joanne's faces (really?), Greg & Aliona - where to start. No real highlights for me yet though I still have a soft spot for Thom (from his rugby days and I do feel a bit of responsibility for his injury as it happened at the Millenium Stadium when I was cheering Wales on loudly ) plus Alison always been a fave since her early career on W. Midlands TV. Pleased she has Aljaz and he's not going down the camp choreo route Bobby did with Lisa...someone said he's dancing full pelt for her - have to agree and it's amazing. Finding his hair rather distracting this year.....

*rubs chin.... Hmmmm I was thinking something along the lines of austerity and budget cuts or am I being generous?

Artem - as a friend said on Twitter - "mesmerising choreography" which highlighted her balletic skills beautifully. Thank you for the links Fridgey you clever, clever lady....MWAH! *air kisses

As a little 'preparation' for SCD this week was looking through YouTube and found this wee number which I thought you might enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1QJuDIKRBs”

Thankyou Orcus, you are right to be nervous WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. Unbelievable dance . No point in watching strictly after that.

Agree with much of everything else, though still just warming to Alison (maybe because I don't know her from anything) , and again like Nooney slightly warming to PIxie.

Liking Caroline as 'praps my favourite so far - but then I do love a nicely done Tango.

A preen. Totally a preen. Oh yes.

And just to add that I hereby promise to Clartem not to mention any Bake Off results on this thread without it being in spoilers - a belated soz ”

nina I thought it was Fridgy that spoilered me, I will take the apology in lieu of future upsets.
Just to outwit you all I have locked OH in the cupboard and am going to watch bake off live.

Sending big hugs way up North to OS (I was thinking of you yesterday and then you appeared on the thread!!! Spooky.

I didn't like the bum wiggling at the start of the salsa either, though I loved the rest. Was it just over-egged, perhaps?

It's the final! Squeeee!!! I think I'd like Nancy to win. I like her drollery . Richard would be great too. I'm least keen on Luis, but he's been very consistent and think he may take it. Yep, cake talk in spoilers

Hello Nina *air kisses to both sides

BIB maybe...? Big snort for the Les Dawson imagery...I really don't know - I could even just be being shallow about what he was wearing which was dire - I appreciate it was difficult choreo and all that but I just didn't feel it I guess
Like you, I warmed to Pixie (and Trent - yummy dancer - not in an Ahhhh-tem way, as Mr OS calls him, though) and agree Caroline looking good.

Busy...?!!!! But have been thinking of you...and saffron crocuses....does that count? Have you harvested some? Sorry OT

Back on topic - I have been working my way through the entire Season 18 of DWTS having discovered the delights of another delicious Russian as well as Artem Keeping me nice and toasty as the weather worsens.

Continuing TOF yes I managed to harvest three pinches. Modest but I was very, very proud. My 60 bulbs then all produced about 3 babies each, even more proud. I am waiting patiently to see whether I can increase on last years crop. I might burst if I get 6 pinches

DWTS ... On the after buzz comments on the latest dance by Artem and Leah it was mentioned that not only has Leah dance training she can also act the part .Artems been lucky with four out of five dance celebs.being actresses Kara , Holly ,Natalie .and now Leah .
All able to interpret the mood as well as the choreography The critics have taken to him and she has performed well .
Seems like quite a few on DWTS have dance backgrounds. Not a problem there
Leah is loving the dream ...I meant living ! but I think both ,wonder how she will do in the switch up .
For someone who had no intention of even glancing at the shown I've got into it. Courtesy of Artems fan page .Altho I still think its manic and ...I'm ..still waiting for strictly to excite me .”

Thanks for the heads up on Kara showings Denburn.

As I have said, have been watching DWTS 18 and I find the dancing makes up for the white noise. Unfortunately they seem to have Pinky and Perky on vocals

BIB: Burlesque makes me think of ample ladies gyrating suggestively in basques.... Please tell me it's not that!!!!

I think that Artem visited a Burlesque show/group when they were in London a couple of years ago. I think I remember some tweets of thanks or something.........

My heart sank when I saw he'd got Janel and burlesque. She's a terrific dancer, but she and Val have been taking a sexy/showmance route and this plays into the hands of those who dislike her. Anyhoo, I have no idea what burlesque means in DwtS terms. I imagine it's jazz dancing in your bra and pants. (Am hoping not to see Artem in same). If they go the Dita Von Teese route, there wouldn't be much for Artem to do....

Something like this from SYTYCD (Belgium!) (but better ) might work?

Interesting - I didn't expect Lea to get Val (who incidentally I was watching earlier as a youngster doing a jive as part of an outing by brother Maks's dance school - likely his first appearance on DWTS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--qp...39A90910B291A0) but burlesque??? Isn't that 'tasteful' pole dancing

Wasn't the show Artem went to the burlesque Kelly Brook was in

I look forward to it .

Janel feels up her new partner

..and they practise some interesting lifts.

Jesse J is guest judge on Monday. Sounds like they may be using her track (or just playing it while they practise?)

ETA: just seen JJ will also be performing. Wonder if she'll perform for their number (would be great, but a bit unfair if she's judging!)

hi Fridgy thanks for the links. on the Artem thread someone has posted a lovely interview with Janel and Artem.

i am feeling a bit worried as we have just been invited to yet another thank you party for the helpers at the Fete folklorique (last July). ( We have to make our own entertainment here). At the last one I got strong armed to start Breton dancing lessons and will be expected to demonstrate despite having only had two lessons.
The meal features cabbage centre stage hopefully it won't be stuffed with andouille (pigs intestine sausage)

exactement Merci bien. Watched it again and just as good second time round.
My favourite bit is when the interviewer asks janel stupid questions about romance and Val, I loved the eyebrow raise when Janel deflected the question. I don't normally after Artem these days, but I thought he was gooooorgus in this interview. Quite liked Janel as well for balance

Off to cool down by making a carrot and courgette cake for a beach barbecue trip with some jumping bean children tomorrow. hopefully sun will shine a bit.

Thanks for the link both of you. Don't get too attached to Janel, Clarty - it's just for one week and then back to Lea. In fact we have to support Lea - not Artem - for him to stay (though hope both do well, naturally )

Sorry for stealing your emoticons Clarty.... Glad this was the right video as I'd just tried to watch it when your post appeared. I couldn't stream it this morning so sharing was partly selfish so I could find it again!!
VERY clever deflection by Janel

May I have ton recipe s'il te plait ?

Naturelllllement! (wasn't sure how many "l's" so may have gone overboard)

Though I do like a gander at a Chmerkovskiy......

Can ANYONE tell me which is the best provider for viewing DWTS please?

Maks C was my Russian of choice for a few years BC (Before Chig), but I've gone off him lately. (Val's a lovely dancer, but doesn't do it for me otherwise). I had a short dalliance with the very pretty Gleb, but he's been a silly billy recently, so it's just about the Art these days

Reminder: Kara in Lewis - 9pm ITV tonight

OS - I'd love to know that too.

It was posted on YT in full the first week or two, but not now.

You can watch it live online if you have the stamina to stay up half the night (someone posted a site for that on the DwtS sub forum)

Unfortunately you can't watch full episodes on the ABC site until a week later (Suzie Q posted the method for that on here a couple of weeks ago).

I've had other suggestions pm-ed to me but they haven't worked or the videos have been removed so I'm afraid I'm back to piecing it together on YT.

Thank you for all these things Fridgey and the DWTS info. I did see SuzieQ's post and glazed over - maybe Mr OS will be able to sort it but with current internet speeds and thinking Sky etc. might be the only realistic option.

He's Ukrainian, Soups but I expect he speaks Russian most of the time.

Yes, you're right, although I always thought they considered themselves 'ethnically' Russian and that Russian was their first language, but that might just be an impression I got from DwtS . (Maks certainly asserted his Ukrainian-ness after recent events in his homeland).

That's interesting, was it in an interview?

Maks and Val are from Odessa in Ukraine which was heavily Russified so they would have been taught in Russian in school and probably saw it as their first language. They have both done very well in the US, all credit to them, and can see events from a different perspective.

I enjoyed what little there was of Kara in Lewis. So who is the murderer?

I don't recall an interview, but he was asked to comment about 'the situation' here and there during the last season on DwtS and I he tweeted things along the lines of 'we're being bullied' and such.

We didn't see very much of Kara, did we? I liked what was. Presume there'll be more of her in the next ep
