[Game] The X Factor: Mix It Up! (series 2) Live Show #4
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what is already the fourth live show of series 2 of The X Factor: Mix It Up!
Last Thursday, nine acts sang songs related to business or anything to do with it. That latter part of the theme description assured us of some very funky connections, but despite of that no rules were broken. In the end, one act had to go home though, and this time it was between Joseph Whelan and Princes & Rogues to get the boot. With a majority vote, the judges decided to eliminate Joseph Whelan. This means that Zak lost his first act last show while Jack still has all three of his groups in the competition. Tonight, the top eight will be performing Seasonal Songs. We will run through 2 'years' or so to speak, with each season corresponding to a performance by one of the acts. A very interesting theme, but also one where it's fairly easy to break the rules. And let me warn you, the judges have been VERY creative this time. As always, the lines will open once all eight acts have performed. Once they have, the DS public (and the judges themselves) will be able to vote for their favourite acts in a bid to keep them out of the sing-off. Once again, only one act will be leaving the competition tonight, which means it's up to the judges to decide which of the bottom 2 acts will be packing their bags tonight. Without further ado, allow me to introduce the marvelous judges and the top 8 of The X Factor: Mix It Up! A remix of a song by the fabulous JLo for your intro tonight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLpH4fajq9Q jackel1234 and the groups Black Ivory Good Question Princes & Rogues unclekevo and the last of the girls Morgan Sheather jag02010 and the boys Ethan Boroian Quatrele Da'An Smith Satanel and the over 25s Danielle Blakey Nicola Marie Judges, I haven't hear from any of you, so please confirm your presence on this thread as soon as possible! |

All right then, I have absolutely not a clue where Justin or Zak are, but I guess the two of you will have to do until they show up. I don't have their comments either, which does not make things easier...
Anyway, the opening sequence of tonight's show will be provided by one of Jack's groups. We'll start with the season that's generally regarded as the first season of a new year - spring. Please give it up for Good Question singing Falling Down by Mz Bratt everyone! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r94vgC4z8o4 Note by Jack: Song was released in early Spring (April) so links into Spring through that release date. Kristina will do the rapping and Joelle will do the singing and Joelle will also sing occasionally within the rapping. |

Good Question
This song was basically made for you girls! It has a really strong female vocalist, a bloody brilliant rapper and is something more serious than all the other songs I’ve chosen for you. Usually I give you girls these really upbeat dance songs whilst this time I gave you something that allowed you both to tell a story and really connect emotionally with a song for the first time. Kristina that has to be your rapping performance of the season and Joelle you just killed it with your amazing vocals as you always do girls. Killer performance for an interesting theme and you just did fantastic! Bravo girls! |

Good Question: Girls, it was really nice to see another side to you. Up until this point, you've been singing more dance-orientated songs but this was a rare stripped back performance from you. I'll start off with the slight drawbacks for me, I wasn't totally sure if the rapping was quite right for you two as I feel like it was perhaps more Misha B-ish than Kristina-ish. That said, I think the vocals were spot on and it worked well for you, there was enough of a mix of singing and rapping and I honestly thought that you pulled it off so well done! I doubt you'll be making a bottom two appearance tonight.

SORRY JUST GOT ON I'M HERE
Good Question Live commenting tonight, so my comments will be a bit shorter. I particularly really enjoyed this performance. This is exactly the kind of act I see you girls as - the song fit perfectly for both of your styles, and I can't glow more about your mentoring in this competition. I think Jack has a potential winner on his hands, and this performance is one of the strongest I've seen from you lot. Loving it. |

Good comments for Good Question tonight, but only the public can make sure that this group won't be falling down tonight.
Time for Justin and the boys. The act that's about to perform has not had the easiest time in this competition, being torn apart by the judges every single week to some degree. Honoring his mentor's birthday as the connection to the theme, it's Quatrele Da'An Smith singing Birthday by Josh Osho [Summer] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eAgqsIrFi0 Note: My birthday is in July! That's the relation to the theme of summer. |

Quatrele
You winning this competition would be an amazing birthday present, if I'm being honest here That being said, I think this was a great performance - it was a bit lighter than some of your past performances and also was a new style of song (originally sung by a guy!) I think that this performance was, as such, one of your best, and you keep getting better at each stage in the competition. I'd love to use some different songs for you in the future, but this style seems to be working for you, and I'm glad we've found your sound.

Quatrele Da’An Smith
Quatrele it’s so weird because ever since the sing off you’ve slowly been getting better and better and better in this competition. I am a big fan of Josh Osho (as you mentor knows ) and I think this was a really good song choice for you Quatrele. You sort of when from being a joke act at the start to being a really good acoustic soul singer and it’s actually a massive improvement on yours and you mentors part. I actually think you have a strong chance of doing really well with this show now Quatrele so bravo on that performance.

Quatrele Da'An Smith: This is hinging on a rule breaker surely? I mean the song could have fitted any season as everyone is bound to have a member of their family or a friend born in each of the seasons so he could have linked any season to this really. For me, this song was refreshing in that it wasn't a male cover of a female song but vocally, I didn't really see much similarity. For me, Quatrele's voice isn't quite as deep as Josh's and there's not the same sort of huskiness there either. It wasn't bad but I don't think it was your best performance though the lack of connection to the theme was probably more of an issue than the vocals as they were okay.

I WAS ON THE PHONE TO WHAT FELT LIKE HYACINTH BUCKET.
Good Question. Hello girls! I thought this was a great start to the show - I swear Jack's acts are always first in the rota. Anyway, the you handled the vocals well and all in all, it was a very good song choice. However, songs like this may get a little predictable and I think I would like to see something with perhaps a little more vocals for the one who can sing in this group, though I understand how challenging finding something like that could be! Regardless, it was a good performance; well done, GQ. Quatrele Da'An Smith. I'm not sure I can agree with this fitting the theme, sadly. However, even though I do not think it is eligible, I will say how it was a fine song choice, certainly better than the past three shows. I quite enjoyed it in terms of fitting Quatrele, however the song itself wasn't that great. The vocals were good though. Good luck, Quatrele. |

The song didn't get rejected by EoS, so... I think it's fine for the theme?

EOS doesn't reject songs though, he leaves it to the judges to decide

![]() I work with a rule-breaker system that I designed myself. Basically, if the judges agree that a song breaks the rules, the song will have a giant RULE BREAKER tag in the summary post, which many members of the public take seriously and punish the act accordingly in their votes instead of me having to do it by rejecting a song. So judges, was this a rule breaker or not? |

While I wait for replies to my question, here is the next act of the evening: Black Ivory singing Stone Cold Heart by Ayah Marar [Autumn]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3m3kyCU47c Note: the song was released in late Autumn (November) so it links to Autumn through the release date. Plus it also gets colder in Autumn so it links to that as well through the whole cold in the title.

It's up to Jack, really.
Black Ivory. This song choice was an absolutely fantastic choice by your mentor! I thought the vocals were incredibly suited and it was just generally a really good song choice. I really am enjoying the route you are being taken down by your mentor, especially after the not-so-good song choice we had been presented for Judges Houses! I'm very impressed, well done BI. |

Black Ivory
BOOM! Girls this was dazzling and it shows how much you’ve come along since your first audition. I mean you originally were put into my final three because I had faith in you whilst others didn’t see any and now here we are with you girls surviving three weeks and becoming stronger and stronger every single week. This one I really wanted your amazing harmonies to be shown off as well as your strong vocals and I think Ayah Marar’s song was a perfect example of this! It combined your urban pop style and just exemplified everything you girls are about so bravo to you all for an amazing performance! |

Black Ivory
To be honest, girls, I'm not a huge fan of this. I like the harmonies, but it kinda sounded like a bad Christmas #1 attempt by Girls Aloud? That's a bit drastic, but it seemed like a bit of a forced song, considering last week you were singing dub step, for crying out loud. I think that the artistic direction isn't there as much as you'd like it to be - it seems like you're all over the place with your song choices lately. Come back with a refined sound, and I'll be a bigger fan. |

Black Ivory: This was good girls! I don't think I enjoyed it as much as last week as it did feel a little bit generic club song but I still thought it was a nice pick and I can see where your mentor was coming from as you have that sort of urban dynamic without being the Hip-Hop sort of artists that Good Question are. Your harmonies were admittedly not as as strong as last week's performance but you did a good job and I liked it so well done!
