exactly.

You said 'contract' and mentioned £50 for the iPhone 5, I think it's a fairly good guess as to the length of the contract you were suggesting. But your arguments are getting into the realms of deliberately looking for a reaction so probably best I ignore any further comment from you on this. (Looks left again)

Just because the "vast majority" are doing so, doesn't mean that is the best option. Your argument is making no sense at all.

As I said before, having a subsidised price on Google Play has no negative effect on consumers at all, regardless of whether they actually buy the device.

you were the one that brought up price initially (with your £240 comment).

and £240 is the 8GB version of the Nexus4, if you're going to compare then you would need to compare the 16GB Nexus4 at £279.

the comparison is a speed comparison though so what has price got to do with it.

Comparisons are silly anyway. You can skew IOS tests downards by 50% just by using web apps or not using Safari.

And considering the 2X+ higher screen resolution of the other phones they maybe slanted the tests away from graphics.

Just watch YouTube videos of real life use. Some of the latest ones show the s4 slower than a s3.

How about Samsung charging similar amounts for the S4? Or do they not need to be examined because they run Android?

The difference is, the iPhone 5 is at least 6 months older than the Galaxy S4, yet it has remained similarly priced. Additionally, the S4 can be had cheaper than the iPhone 5 on contract, so it's not quite the same thing.

Are you actually complaining about the price of the phone? Did someone drag you in a shop and force you to buy one?

The iPhone is not and never has been about benchmarks. It is no suprise it comes out as the slowest phone as it is only a mid range phone in terms of tech. Apple sell an eco system and an image. I also thought one of the comments was funny "What about Windows Phone?". Yeah right, talk to the hand.

But still hahaha IPhone. My N4 is wearing an iPhone 5 as a hat right now.

That sounds disturbingly sexual.

Where did you see me complaining? I think it's fairly obvious that I'm not going to buy one, I'm happy with my Nexus 4. I was responding to comments that the subsidised price of the Nexus 4 on Google Play was somehow a negative.

In fact they are not subsidised, you are just buying the phone on an installment plan. If you could calculate the true cost of the phone over the life of the contract you would probably be horrified at the real price of the hardware.

Show me where the iPhone 5 is £50 ? Unless you can show me the sim free option for £50 then your comparing apples to oranges.

If you buy an iPhone 5 in the O2 shop, over the life of a contract the whole cost would be £888.

If you took a sim only deal with the same allowance it would cost you £504.

That means the phone is costing you £384, that doesn't sound that horrific.

But you can get a SIM deal matching that for way cheaper than o2 are asking. They are asking for £21/mth for that deal (with just 1GB data) whereas you can get a deal with unlimited everything (including, crucially, data, plus just a 30 day commitment) for £15/mth. that would push the 'true' cost of the phone up to, funnily enough, £528 (just £1 less than buying SIM free direct from Apple.)

I took an example using a well known shop. I'm sure there are loads of examples where you can play around with the price both on and off contract, but my point still stands even with your example. Misar said the cost of the phone would look horrific, when in fact at worse it is just the normal retail price.
