To be honest, Apple has been in danger ever since Android started to take off in late-2009.

Curiously, Apple and Steve Jobs could have very easily have stopped Android when they had the chance, it was their exclusivity deal with AT&T in America that allowed Android to get its foot in the door. Had Apple struck a deal with Verizon and the other US carriers sooner for the iPhone, the Droid campaign and subsequent Galaxy S campaign may never have even happened, Apple caused their own undoing with stubbornness and complacence. By the time the exclusivity deal ended, Android had already blown up in the US and Europe and it was too late for Apple to do anything about it.

As someone else said, Apple has come to the end of its "golden era" now. As evident from the internal struggle between Ive and Forstall after Jobs' death, the company is in turmoil. iOS7 is underwhelming given all the hype, and I don't think releasing an iPhone 5S will remedy that. They are no longer the dominant player in the market now. It's fast becoming an Android world.

I remember when a 3.5 inch phone outsold all other phones apart from the iPhone 5, it was Q1 2013, oh how things change
What are you saying? That you still consider anything above a 3.5" screen size ridiculous? I thought the iphone 5 changed that idea amongst the Apple fans. I suppose there's still some who think that. Jobs is dead, move on.

No, I've not mentioned phones above 3.5 inch. I was just stating a fact that 3.5 inch screens are still very popular on phones and not only iOS. Samsung also make what some consider "small screen" phones.

I think it is a good thing that there are a choice of screen sizes. Shame the likes of samsung and Htc can only manage to build lower end phones in hat form factor.

And not to make you look a fool but I don't have an iPhone so I'm not sure what point your silly comment was trying to make.

Well you totally missed the point of my post! Nobody said they're not. My ipod is 3.5" and I like it!

However when Apple used to only make a 3.5" screen phone, Apple fans ridiculed anything that was bigger. That was the point of my post. They also ridiculed tablets smaller than the ipad and other companies "stealing ideas". And all that came from statements Jobs made.

Are Apple now crumbling? Slow Iphone 5 sales, IOS7 looks to be a disaster, software hiccups like maps, cheap Iphones in the pipeline and Iwatches. I don't remember much of the 90's era but I remember some Macintoshes being very uncool. Many compare this IOS7 to the cheap macs of the 90's with the blue colours round the screen.
Going to stop you there.

Slow iPhone 5 sales? I thought the iPhone 5 was the biggest selling smartphone.

iOS7 looks a disaster? It hasn't been released yet, except in beta. That some people don't like some of the icons hardly = disaster.

Software hiccups like Maps? No, it was an issue singular. At least I'm not aware of other software that got the flak that maps did.

Cheap iPhones? What, like cheaper iPods was a disaster.

iWatches? A rumour. What about them?

I know its a great narrative, but its a little premature.

What, every apple fan said that. Or are you just making a massive generalisation?

I don't think he would have released Siri as "beta" or churned out maps a year too early. I'm sure I read the Ibooks store was rushed when it launched but atleast it looked half decent. I mean even the Ipod touch has had the camera removed to drop the price down.

To me it seems Apple want to refocus on cheap products. More products will see the main flagship product lose it's appeal for me.
Wasn't the iPhone 4S the last iPhone that Steve Jobs oversaw before he passed away? And therefore didn't he approve if Siri.

No, but some Apple fans did. Why are you so determined to pick an argument? Now we are down to the semantics of what I said? When I said Apple fans, no I did not mean every single last one of them. Use your common sense!

Apple's critical flaw is that it focuses on so few items - items that are especially vulnerable to the whims of fashion - that they only need one to spectacularly fail to bring down the company.

Samsung makes so many different things that they're impervious to fashion.
Samsung make too many phones IMO and many of them are the same thing just given a different name. They run the risk of over exposing the galaxy brand.

I didn't realise trying to understand what you meant was picking an argument

I remember when android fans use to tell us how super smooth ics was, then along came project butter. People have views and they change over time. Seems a little weird you are hanging on to comments made years ago to try and make a point. I'm not sure it is me that should be "moving on"

This thread was in GD and asking about Jobs that's why I replied, I can't be bothered with Android Vs Apple these days. Good luck!

I think he had some input into the iphone 5 as it was in the design stages before he died.

There was some indication when Steve died that he'd left design and product ideas for several years to come.
