Please can someone help a damsel in distress. I have at last ditched Sky and bought Humax Freesat box. I want to be able to watch and control it from the TV in my bedroom via magic eye as I did my Sky box. I have read up on it all and also purchased a rf modulator from Maplins.

I have a scart lead from humax into modulator and coax cable from modulator going upstairs to bedroom then this goes into the tv link.

However, this is where I am stuck. The light does not come on to indicate there is power going to the TV Link. Please could it be something as simple as I need a powered TV Link. Any help will be most welcome preferably before my head implodes.

Thanks in advance

You need a remote extender of some kind as well - Humax boxes don't have any magic eye capability, so you need a way to transfer the remote signals from the distant remote control.

I'm presuming the RF modulator from Maplin doesn't include this?.

Edit:

Just had a quick google, looks like you need something like this as well:

Oh no I have misunderstood this whole setup by the sounds of things. I thought the rf modulator and tv link was all I needed. The TV Link I have now is not a powered one so I thought was what was causing the problem!

Any chance you could post a link to the remote extender. I would be very grateful. Oh and no the marlins RF Modulator did not have one.

Thanks for replying

Just saw your link. Thank you

OK I now have another problem grrr! I am running the TV upstairs via HDMI so can watch but, not at the moment control, but if I switch my tv off downstairs it also turns the humax box off. So I have to have the Tv downstairs on too. Grrr beginning to wish I had not changed all this

Turn off your TV's HDMI-CEC function, it may be called something else depending on which brand. Samsung for example is Anynet+.

The TV Link Plus arrived today, super speedy delivery. I have set it all up and it works but not really. I have to have remote right up close to the magic eye almost touching. It will work once and thats it. With the maplins rf modulator does anyone happen to know which of the 8 switches I should have turned on and will this make a difference.

Sorry for all the questions. I am getting there just very slowly.

Once again thanks in advance
