One cat sleeps in a little brick planter my neighbour made in the shared part of our garden but he now doesn't bother to put flowers in, anymore, as it catches the sun just right in the morning so my elderly cat sleeps in it...
She also prefers sleeping on his lawn to mine. Maybe because he remembers to cut his grass.
My newly acquired cat sleeps in the daytime on our shed roof. This gives him a vantage point into our kitchen but he can also keep an eye on his old garden (neighbour moved house leaving him behind), presumably in case his old owner comes home...
The week she abandoned him, coupla weeks ago, we found he was living behind an old fridge freezer in her outhouse. So the fact he is sleeping on our side of the wall now, is good. In the afternoons, he comes in and sleeps in my cupboard under the stairs. We are going to clear it out to put a basket in for him. And in the evening, he sleeps on my kitchen table which is a bit gross but he seems to feel happier if he has some height, so I don't want to move him (just keep using antibacterial wipes on the table and have stopped preparing food on it!)
We found another of the ex neighbour;s dumped kitties is living in our outhouse where we keep our bikes. I have a bale of hay in there and she has been sleeping on that.
I have been leaving dried food out for her cos she looks like a crap mouser and I can't see her starve. She is not my cat though.
My old dog is snoring next to me on the sofa now. Sometimes she sleeps on my bed in the daytime but never goes upstairs at night. She had a basket but prefers to use sofas and although elderly, can still at the moment jump up onto it, so we let her.
