There's a huge logistical problem with remaking that film though. Either they would have to shoot the whole film in my town which, while quite hilly doesn't quite have the imposing mountains necessary or they would have to ship my dead body out to the Alps to make the movie over and apparently that is ridiculously expensive and tangled in red tape.

Probably easier for all of us if they just leave it as it is.

Not that it should be remade but I wonder how they would remake Jaws?

As amazing as the original movie is, I think Gone With the Wind could stand a TV miniseries adaptation, if only to include the dozens of subplots and events which were cut from the novel due to time restrictions. My only worries would be the portrayal of the slaves may be changed (the novel being sympathetic to the institution of slavery in a way that just wouldn't fly today) and no one could portray Scarlett as well as Vivien Leigh. The race issue and success of the original film might prevent anyone every seriously considering a new version, though.

I'd also like to see remakes/new adaptations of:

Rebecca
Jamaica Inn
The Towering Inferno
Mary, Queen of Scots (possibly as a miniseries)
Anne of the Thousand Days
Pet Sematary
It

The Wizard of Oz is the one film I am still shocked hasn't been remade.

The Incredible Shrinking Man - CGI is horribly overused, but modern special effects and starring role for Will Smith could do this movie justice.

The Car
1977 horror/thriller about a mysterious car on the rampage in Utah. The original was a watchable flick, but below average. Ryan Reynolds would be a good lead.

Zulu
Obviously not a remake, but a new adaption showing the brutality and gallant of the Battle of Rorke's Drift. With a good home grown cast, such as Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Damian Lewis, Dan Stevens and Nicholas Hoult. Would be a quality movie for the 50th anniversary of the original.

Always thought The Wild Geese would be good for a remake, but that's basically what The Expendables is I guess. Not really feeling the nostalgia though, too much ham.

Yet another remake please of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'

Three so far! Love 'em all!

'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1956 original)

'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1978 remake)

'Body Snatchers' (1993) Set on a military base in
Alabama loosely based on the original 1955 novel.

Theres been a few similar movies. One with Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman was good. Called 'The Invasion'.

i would love a remake (ish) of cabaret, only following the plot of the show and putting back the songs that were cut

"Rawhead Rex"! Preferably with a better monster and a budget of more than 15.

Anything could - and probably eventually will - be remade/ re-imagined. It's easier to suggest what could not, or more accurately, would not be re-made. Citizen Kane and Casablanca are ripe for re-making after seventy years, but I can't see any sane person in the conceivable future attempting it.

Casablanca has been remade . . . as Barb Wire.

I always thought that Heaven's Gate would work well if it was remade as a HBO mini-series, it would allow for the subplots and intricacies to play out better whilst also not proving as straining for casual viewers.

Yes, I'm aware of that.

But we're talking about actual REMAKES, in which the original movie/screenplay is credited.

There are many similar 'alien invasion' movies out there - but 'similar' is not a remake.
