Home girl was on fire last night and she looked smoking hot too. Didn't have a clue what she was saying for the most of it. Her accent is very very strong.

Indeed. If it is a medical related proposal, she meets his criteria of someone who knows their area, and has confidence in their ability.

He doesn't usually regard academic qualifications that highly , having none, but even if she doesn't want to use her degree doctors do come with certain positive assumptions. You don't become a doctor without being in the top couple of percent of the
popualation academically, and you, by definition, have a range of scientific and mathematical knowledge. You also need to be decisive, quick on the uptake, mature and reliable. You hopefully will also have some people skills and experience. Lord Sugar probably appreciates that, and isn't going to judge her like a Big Brother candidate on whether she smiles a lot, or is a blonde.

Although she goes on too long, she's also summed up accurately Alex, Myles and Zee for him - in terms he's then repeated himself.Luisa does it too - but quicker. He usually spots the people who can think like he does, and have insight, and when he doesn't become paranoid about them, they tend to do well.

don't be daft. I'm not witch hunting... But she didn't say what you said. She said she had contributed and she said she had made more impact than Myles.

I think she is entitled to say it, it is subjective and can't really be measured but she is right up there with the most successful and effective.

No clue why some people don't like her but it seems to be men who either like Luisa because they fancy her, or men who like the prat that is Neil who resent Leah.

I hear you but do any of us actually know what her actual current medical career is or how many hours a week she has to dedicate to it? I know that she qualified as a doctor but that's as much as I know. If she was running a practice or working in a hospital getting by on 2 hours sleep a night then yeah it would be an issue I agree..

Many entrepreneurs have their fingers in many pies so I'd imagine (or hope at least) that Leah and the other candidates, as well as the producers and Shuggsy's team have vetted them properly before letting them on tv; they will have worked out whether a business plan is workable or not before they even let them get to week 1 in the process.

You many be right though, and if so, the interview week will perhaps be quite telling (as per usual!).

Why would she have to? Before The Apprentice she was successfully running her mobile medical aesthetics clinics business alongside her job working in an NHS hospital.

She defended herself incredibly well there.

She has been put in all sorts of different situations and has preformed on each task. You can't say she hasn't. She's always sensible and realistic too. She may lack some creative spark but that's it. As far as business goes, she's really capable.

Alex had no chance. I think Lord Sugar decided he was an inexperienced, unreliable, inconsistent, often silly, loose cannon weeks ago. Nick and Karen didn't suddenly start arguing that this week, and the other candidates had given him a resounding vote of no confidence every time he tried to be PM. I think Lord Sugaraccepts taht some of them have decent judgement. Myles I think has been dead man walking since he didn't do that well on the Dubai task - that got nearest to testing what he claimed to do . This week, it was noted that he had had a truly bad idea - which undermined his claim to marketing expertise, and to be experienced and low risk.

You certainly don't get to be a doctor without being smart, having a good work ethic and being able to deal with pressure - all valuable traits in an entrepreneur.

Sometimes I think Sugar gets a bad press with respect to his views on academic qualifications. Particularly in Young Apprentice he was always supportive of the contestants doing well in school. I think the thing with him is that he doesn't automatically assume that having good qualifications doesn't necessarily make you a great businessperson, and that candidates should never assume that having a degree (or whatever) automatically confers an advantage.

Obviously, it can help - it generally shows a certain degree of intelligence and the ability to both learn and think in a structured way. But equally, just because a candidate has, say, a law degree doesn't make them a good businessperson. Indeed, even someone who has a business degree doesn't automatically make a good businessperson - and I say this as someone who has a high-ranking business qualification. Some of the best people I have ever worked with had no more than a few O-levels - and conversely I know some incredibly smart academics with PhDs who you wouldn't let near a business because that's just not the way they think.

Just to build on those points, a lot of Alex's bluff and bluster about his business success was just that - bluff and bluster. His slate business had over 100 complaints with Trading Standards, many around non-fulfillment of customer orders. And he was turning over just £28k a year. That's sales of £28k, so even if he was making, I don't know, £15k in profit that's not even enough to pay his own salary, let alone lay claim to being the big I-Am he was suggesting he was.

Indeed, it rather suggests he's a bit of a shyster in the Del Boy mould - that's not to say he might not go on to be a success, but his credibility in terms of what he had achieved was, shall we say, not entirely what he made it out to be.

What has she actually done other than constantly rubbish other peoples ideas, without really coming up with anything herself? "I realllllllllllly don't like that idea at allllllll."

Indeed, though I think in terms of content, at least in what we were shown, it lacked specifics. As we approach the end of the process, Leah, and all of the others, need to have at their fingertips examples of themselves getting things right, both in tasks and in life, and (to be played very carefully, if at all) of their rivals screwing things up.

Where I think Lord Sugar might have been less impressed is in Leah's claim to have excelled in every role she was given. I suspect he'd rather work with someone who claims or demands positions, rather than waits to be assigned.

The medical world is, necessarily, very hierarchical, and as a medical student Leah would have been right at the bottom. As a junior hospital doctor, she is slightly higher than she was, but you'd not want her elbowing the consultant out of the way because she fancied doing a heart transplant. The hierarchy is there for a reason.

Leah waits to be assigned tasks, and for that matter, waits to be asked to speak in the boardroom. And when she is, she says exactly what she needs to say, then stops, as if she were reporting a patient's test results on a ward round.

Lord Sugar might be expecting something different.
