Help picking a new smart phone! (HTC One)

Hey guys

Currently have an iphone 4s and tbh i am getting bored of it. I want to get a new phone....
and i am thinking of moving away from Apple. I think its time for a change and time to experiment with some new software!

I have narrowed my choices down to the Samsung S4 and the HTC One.

I want my mobile mainly for listening to music and browsing the internet.....
What phone would you recommend guys?

Also is it better to buy the phone outright or go on a contract?

The HTC has Beats Audio and front-facing stereo speakers.
The S4 has a feature called 'Adapt audio' that allows you to tweak the headphone output by allowing you to test your particular pair of headphones and adjusting the EQ accordingly.

That's very much down to yourself, your choice of network, your needs in terms of a tariff and what deals you can find when you shop around.

That's fair enough.
I'd still look round at prices if I were you though.

If, for example, you wanted to go for the One Plan on Three, that costs £25/month SIM-only. On the other hand, the One can be purchased on the One Plan for £35/month.
Unless you can find the handset SIM-free for £240 or less, you're better off taking it on contract.

Couldn't say, I went for the S4.
Plus I don't tend to use my phone for music, I've got a dedicated mp3 player I use instead.

I have the HTC One and find it miles better than my old iPhone 5 was (personal preference I know!). The build quality in my opinion is way better than the S4 (metal vs plastic) and the front facing speakers with the Beats audio sound amazing.

if it's mainly for music... HTC One.

Front facing speakers with Beats Audio is outstanding.

Even my friend who has a SGS4 was really impressed and asked if there was a way to get beats audio on his device!

Let us know which one you go for

I have the one, With a good set of headphones the sound quality is fantastic! I use these phones

Not expensive and the sound definitely has a wow factor, with pretty much all genres of music because they are so well balanced. Beats Audio give it excellent amplification. You wouldn't be disappointed in the sound quality.

Makes sense if you planning on buying outright I would look at 30 day sim only deals as they are most flexible and good value for money these days. If you planning to go with O2 though I would at least wait a bit as they are likely to announce there 4G price very soon.

That depends on the person I got mine on contract but I have brought outright in the past kind of regretting slightly not buying it outright this time. With how three are messing about with updates.

It is, but if you you're not tied down to a contract there are so many flexible options around these days.

look at the total cost of owner ship over the typical 24 month contract lets say O2's 37/month + £29.
Total cost £917

You can probably get a flexible non contract sim only maybe something like giffgaff for 10/month which is 500 mins unlimited text and 1 gig of data.

Cost of the handset is £475 ( you can buy sim free unlocked htc one for that on amazon ) + 10 * 24
Total cost £715

The top two deals on Orange are as good as it gets on the One, depending on how much data you need. Cashback available through Top Cashback too (although I have had some bother with my claim).

If you're under 24, go for the lesser data and then ring up and get 1GB added on: https://kareena.orange.co.uk/numberl...wt.tsrc=Vanity

You also get access to Swapables, which includes a subscription to Deezer: http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/0...-than-spotify/

You said you like to listen to music so it's a no brainer.

Hmmm tbh that's true....might do that.
Is amazon safe to buy a phone from....if anything was to go wrong with the phone...who do you deal with?
HTC or Amazon?
