OS X is holding back the 2013 MacBook Airís 802.11ac Wi-Fi speeds

With this new magical wifi used it looks like OSX became a bottleneck. In the meantime you may want to install Windows on it.

To quote the article:

"Windows is, at best, about ten percent faster over Gigabit Ethernet and 43.6 percent faster over 802.11n, but it's 117.7 percent faster over 802.11ac"

"it seems entirely likely that Apple will be able to fix the issue in software, and I would be surprised to see OS X 10.8.5 or OS X 10.9 ship with the same issues"

Seems like its only certain applications not the raw link speed and who knows why its so slow it could be a deliberate thing not to over saturate the wireless link or apple haven't looked at those programs for a long while and the techs now better than the max values that are encoded in the applications so a quick edit of the source file with new upper levels for certain parameters or better detection of those parameters and job done.

When anandtech investigated this, he found that protocols like AFP and SMB were the culprit.
