So I've been getting a few missed calls on my mobile recently while at work from an 0845 number and they finally called me yesterday while I was home. It was someone who said he was an EE representative who said that because I've been with Orange for a long time and always paid everything properly with no problems that I am eligible for some "reward deals". He then outlined two deals that I could have the choice for. One was a new extra phone for free with a "cheap" contract (He didn't go into the prices yet) that I could have or someone else if I wanted to gift it to someone. I said I was interested in that.

The second deal was that I could get the latest Nexus table or iPad for a cheaper price than normal (again no prices were mentioned yet) I then told him that I had just bought myself a Nexus and didn't need that. He said no problem and he would call again when new deals have come up.

My question is has anyone else had this phone call? Does it seem legit?

I'm always wary when someone has phoned me with these sort of "offers" and I would always ask for them to send any information of something I was interested through the post first before I commited to anything. It's worth noting though that this was a phone number I could have rang back if I wished and not a withheld number.

So what do people think?

How do you know it was actually them and not another company who had been given your details?

I would ring Orange on the normal number and ask them about the call to check it's legit.

I had pretty much the exact same phone call a while ago from T-Mobile. I think it was the trigger for me to sign up here as I was told I could get the Galaxy S3 LTE as a "second phone" for £26 a month with unlimited 4G data on the EE network while remaining as a T-Mobile customer.

A few kind people on here told me the score (it was utter bollocks), so nothing came of it.

I honestly think these calls are trying to find people who aren't particularly tech savvy or take a real interest in their phones on the hope that they won't look at the details too closely, or even be aware of what's possible. Unlimited 4G sounded bloody great to me, but I was pretty sure it wasn't likely, so I didn't take it - more research confirmed it.

I had the same call. They offered a Nexus 7 32gb for free and £15.50 for 250 mobile data. A quick check on the website confirms that it's the same offer they're offering to anyone. I heard him out as I was interested in what they had to say. I did laugh though, as he tried to blag me that "This tablet will cost you £400 minimum off the shelf".... er, dont think so mate!
