Helios Evaluations.
There was a lot of unnecessary drama during the beginning of the task; drama which would not be welcomed in a professional business environment. As a team it is vital you each have the sense to handle yourselves correctly in a situation such as a disagreement, otherwise your time in this competition will be short-lived.
Katie: As Louise mentioned earlier, I personally found you to be the strongest member of the team. I appreciated the fact you didn’t entirely have a grasp on the board game situation, but still had the will to step up as project manager. You had two, in particular, loud characters within your team, who I believe you handled very well. You were willing to put in the effort; you were available at all times and were by far the most hardworking member of your team. You were criticised heavily by two of your members in the evaluations, however, due to having little knowledge of board games. I’m sure there’ll be a task that you will know a lot about and the others don’t and then we shall see whether the criticisms were fair. I care more about your effort in the task, not your knowledge of a random subject.
Niall: Niall, the second strongest member of the team in my opinion. I thought you handled yourself very professionally throughout the course of the task, which I was pleased to see. I do believe you could have been around more for discussions, but I understand you’re at school for quite a hefty part of the weekday, so that can be excused. I thought you completed your work to a high standard and if you continue in this manner then it’s safe to say you should be making it far in this process. Well done, Niall.
Tyjet: It may seem as if I have taken sides within this task, which absolutely isn’t the case. However, I do not appreciate it when someone sends an evaluation to me, heavily criticising someone in their team – saying they were the “source of every problem on this task”, and then fails to say the same in the boardroom when asked about this person. If you want to stay longer in this process, you must realise it is more than just the standard of work in which you deliver. It is also about your attitude and honesty to all participants. I was massively disappointed with the “enjoy my evaluation” comment you made, suggesting I would be amused by what you had written as well. That all being said, I WAS pleased with your availability and your standard of work throughout this task.
Jason: Jason, I didn’t see much of you throughout this task, but I believe that is due to work commitments? I thought the work you produced was very good and was all that could really have been asked from you for this task. Similarly with Niall, DS Apprentice is never going to be easy and it’s certainly harder when you have work or school. I would say try and make yourself a little more available for discussions, but other than that, I think you’ve done a fine job on this task.
Justin: Justin, you had the main concept for this task, which is more than what others may have had and yes, you did put a lot of effort in around work schedules which I can only applaud you for. However, a similar problem to Tyjet, I found you to be quite rude throughout the task; whether it was intentional or not, it was certainly noticed by two other members of your team in their evaluations. In fact, you were in the “who deserves to be fired?” question by two of your teammates as well. You also said to me “enjoy my evaluation”, which I am baffled by. I am not going to be amused by anyone’s evaluation in regards to criticising another member of their team. However, you did say how you actually felt in the boardroom so I do indeed appreciate that from you. I think you just need to be more relaxed throughout tasks (same with Tyjet) and you’ll do just fine. Had Lucas not been here to fire, I would have been very worried for you.
Lucas: Commiserations, Lucas.
