ITV set to renew X Factor Deal!
Simon Cowell is on the verge of agreeing a new X Factor deal with ITV.
The next series was rumoured to be the last ever, but channel boss Adam Crozier said: “It is going to be around for quite some time. “It remains a very important programme for ITV.” But he admitted: “We’ve got to make sure we improve it and get it right. “Funnily enough, we did the same with I’m A *Celebrity, which dipped a little bit two years ago, and it has been back stronger than ever. "It is perfectly possible to do it. All these shows need a bit of love and attention and for things to change to keep people interested.” Check out all the latest News, Sport & Celeb gossip at Mirror.co.uk http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/s...#ixzz2XYe8v1Rf Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook |

The success of any one year depends on the acts they get.
For me, Series 4 only had one stand out act - Rhydian. Series 5 had several and is one of the best series yet ![]() 2011 was spoilt, first by eliminating four acts in week 1, then keeping the dreadful Frankie, and allowing Amelia to leapfrog back in

I think any deal will see it moving in the schedule and depend on Simon coming back.
If he does and it bombs then thats the end, but at the moment ITV dont seem to have anything else to put in its place that gets that many viewers and brings in that much money. I would guess this is Louis' last year. I think Sharon is there because she is someone they can use to make controversial decisions like they do with Louis. So i think theres a bit of a transistion going on - the newer ones like Gary or Nicole aren't going to allow themselves to have reputation risked - they are just worth too much money and don't need the problems. |

If all the phone/text votes rake in big cash for ITV then I can't seem them ever ditching the show. It will run and run and they'll have to bring out the judges in wheelchairs cos they'll be so old.

I really liked the talent in season 8, the only acts you could really say that were bad were frankie and nu vibe.. Joe Cox and 2Shoes shouldve made it imo, but maybe 2Shoes wouldve given LM a run on their money

Hardly surprising. If a show is in decline with 7/8 million then it's clear it's not going anywhere. Most shows have a peak of 7 million, but this show has it as a decline rating. It has obvious potential to get higher ratings. It's producing stars which generate a vast amount of money and dominate the charts. Little Mix, One Direction, Olly Murs and James Arthur (from his winner's single) are all doing incredibly well. They have no reason to axe it. The show does what it's supposed to do, produce stars. It's still one of the biggest shows in Britain, only SCD beat its consistently. They can change it and bring the ratings back up. The show will be here for years to come, I doubt it will ever leave our tellies.

Richard Holloway is The X Factor's producer. What exactly that means, I don't know because I always thought Simon Cowell was 'The boss' but it seems Richard is.

I'm so happy to read this. As much as we complain about its current quality sometimes, my life would be a lot duller without X Factor to watch every winter. Plus its also found two of my favourite singers so I hope it continues to find some amazing talent!

i've said it before and i'll say it again - the x factor is not going ANYWHERE until itv has found a suitable replacement to bring in a similar level of revenue and ratings. the press and certain people like to scream about how much trouble it's in with it's ratings.....but really, that's bull. yes, it's ratings are lower than what they once were - they're still higher than anything else on that channel and most others. itv would be mad to axe it without having something else on it's level up their sleeve. You do have to consider though whether what is good for TV has really been good for pop music in the UK?
UK music has been suffering from a huge lack of creativity for the last few years and it's partly (though not entirely) because talent show artists are simply about shifting units and making money in a short period of time. Very few of the X Factor artists have actually had much longevity and suffer from a lack of credibility for the most part. Leona Lewis's 'Bleeding Love' and 1D's "What Makes you Beautiful" may be the only songs played 5 years from now if that even. On balance I think it is time for more music shows to feature chart music and new acts and less talent shows. |
