I think we can say Tanya's exit was nothing like Peggy's...

Everyone (including myself) seemed to think that Tanya's exit was going to be a sham just like Peggy's with her walking out on her family/child when they need her most. After watching this week's episodes, I think we can say that the exit was actually well thought-out and extremely believable. I'm glad Lauren (and Oscar) went with her because it would've ruined Tanya's character if she had just walked out on them at this point. Great exit.

Tanya's exit was far more believable than Peggy and Zainab's.

I thought it was a great episode and by far the bext exit we have had under Newman so far.

Couldn't disagree more, as I've already posted in thread ...

They were nothing alike....

Peggy left her family but how old are they (and her son)
Had Tanya left little Oscar poorly Lauren and Abi it would have been very unrealistic.

However I preferred Peggys exit.

Zainab exit was shit, Tanya exit was better than I thought it would be and she had a whole ep focused on it, I'm just glad she's gone.

I think what some people are forgetting is that it was supposed to be a temporary exit for Tanya. It was only a few weeks later that Jo Joyner decided that she didn't want to come back. So that is why I think it wasn't as great as it could have been.

Not true. Tanya's exit was always 'permanent'. Jo quit the show last year. She didn't take a 'break' - she chose not to renew her contract. It was just that recently EastEnders finally dropped the spin and admitted she wasn't coming back.

They've known Jo was leaving for over a year, they had plenty of time to plan a better exit for her. I thought the whole thing was silly and rushed.

I agree with this post, Tanya's exit was very well thought out and was really well done.

One thing I find laughable though is that she didn't even say bye to Sharon even though they were supposed to be besties. No one believed their friendship anyway so I don't really care.

Wonder why Tanya didn't get the Julia's theme. Is it because she is supposed to be back?

In my opinion it was a poorly written exit. Only positive thing... there is one less Branning in EE.

Tanya's exit was dull and unremarkable. I wonder if I'd been invested in any of the characters if my opinion would be different. But it's a moot point anyway since I could never invest in Branning scum.

I didn't care much for Peggy but her final couple of scenes were moving. It did feel like the end of an era when Peggy left whereas it felt like a pause in the endless Max and Tanya saga when Tanya left. I couldn't buy into her exit as final because it's obvious she'll be back sooner rather than later. Jake Wooden was absolutely appalling in their final scenes. Simply terrible. Maybe he was as bored with repeating the same lines to ''Tan'' as I was of hearing them.

Actually I had a letter from Jo Joyner and she said she had signed a contract to return and she said she had a sabbatical written into her contract and she was due to return after an 8 month break and she decided earlier this year to make the break permanent I have proof and I have showed other people on here so if you want to see the letter I will show you it

Tanya's exit was far better than Peggy's both emotionally and dramatically. Tanya leaving leaves a huge hole in the show for me as she was always a favourite of mine.

With the greatest respect, I don’t doubt for one minute she wrote to you and said that, but it would’ve been an agreed form of words with the EE producers.

At that point in time we were still being spun the ‘extended break’ story. Maybe she had told the producers she would return and changed her mind, or maybe they knew from the start that it was always going to be permanent – but regardless, the public ‘line to take’ as such was that she would return.

Having said that, I do think her exit was planned with a return in mind. I suspect that when it was finally announced that it would be an ‘indefinite’ break, that all they re-wrote was some of the dialogue between her and Max to make it sound a lot more final.

exits like Tanyas make no sense. Its not realistic to move away from your teenaged family (Lauren is coming back so shes only with Oscar). They should have killed her off so for once EE doesn't leave the door open to recycle the same plots in 5 years' time.

She did write to me I will show you the letter now to prove it. She did write to me and say that I have proof and I have shown people on here the letter in a PM so don't say that she didn't. I have PM you. Don't say she didn't write to me and say that I have proof she did so don't accuse me of lying because she did tell me in a letter that she had a sabbatical written into her contract and she was planning to return after an 8 month break and she was able to say that because she had signed the contract I took a picture of the letter so if you want proof she said that read your PM now

MG, bumpandgrind was not calling you a liar. They said they didn't doubt for one minute that Jo wrote to you. They believe you!
