Sandman Overture
Justice League 3001
Earth 2 Society
Harley Quinn & Power Girl
Rather astonishingly for me, that's it for DC at the moment. I'm going to try 'Bombshells' when that starts.
Buffy
Angel
Lazarus
Infinite Loop
Julpiter's Circle (and Legacy, when it re-starts)

Loads. As I get older and, rather fortunately, enjoy a reasonable amount of discretionary income, I find myself spending a fortune on comics. If my ten year old self could see me now, he'd be massively jealous.

I'm reading all the Batman books, a couple of the X-Men books, Justice League, all the Avengers books, Spider-Man, a lot of other DC and Marvel books, Saga, East of West, Uber and many, many more. Forbidden Planet must love me, the amount of money I'm spending in their shops.

Been happily following the Truth storyline in Superman, Super+WW and Action but am delaying jumping into the Justice arc until I know how long it is going to be and how the trades will deal with arc - will we get ALL Truth in one book. or will we get individual title ones containing their respective Truth, Justice and the inevitable final arc ? - should know by October at which point I'll cross my fingers that the #45s+#46s are still available if necessary.

btw: didn't mention Superman+Batman (which is also Truthing) as I'm following that no matter what so there'd be no possibility of me dropping it.
Should really drop Batgirl, even with me following it (in all its shapes and forms) since Cassandra Cain, as I really REALLY despise the art, and I mean REALLY hate it

Do you love the whole experience of going to FP each week, picking up your order and browsing for additional delights ?
If it is JUST the comics that matter have you ever done the online-ordering thing. They come already bagged & boarded and with either free p+p or at a possibly greater discount that FP do. I don't work for one (btw) I'm just a happy and contented online buyer for the past 4+ years.

ps. on relooking at your current hawl methinks without a frickin huge letterbox your weekly brick-sized parcel couldn't be delivered without knocking - something I don't need to worry with my (at most) 4/week - do get woken up by the thud of it landing though.

re: Calvin and Hobbes - you might like to google Hobbes and Papercraft.

No, I like the experience of going into the shop. I can pick up new things if I want, or stop getting things if I want. I'm sure postal delivery is more convenient - but it wouldn't be as enjoyable.

I used to love going into FP (especially when it was still called 'Odyssey'), but now it's a toy shop, not so much.

I'm very glad when I re-discovered my love of comics a decade or so ago, that a mate told me about OK Comics in Leeds.

Ah well, that's the curse of modern comic shops isn't it? Toys, DVDs, models etc. I remember when Forbidden Planet in London was on New Oxford Street and pretty much sold only comics. There were boxes and boxes of back issues - plus endless shelves of new comics and graphic novels. It was paradise on earth.

It's the same story at World's Apart in Liverpool (another shop I regularly visit when I'm back home). The basement used to be full of back issues. Not anymore.

I suppose the modern comic shop has to be a venue for other 'genre' merchandise. My geekiness is devoted to just comics - but the other stuff helps pay the bills I imagine.

(1) re: Hobbes - yup, that's the beauty. I made one and it's an interesting build in that the body looks a complete disaster right before it all comes together perfectly - tabs have to be stuck in weird places but the outcome, as the pic shows, is kinda cool.

(2) visiting comic shops - I guess my love for that experience left me when my LCBS started having money troubles and would only get in Marvel comics, causing me with my DC list to frequently turn up, only to leave disappointed. When they finally got things back running properly my collection had so many gaps I had to eBay a bunch (some coming all the way from America!!). And experiencing the ease of these mail deliveries turned me to the dark side and I cancelled my subs at the store. An added irritant was this gap-time happened during Batman RIP (pre new52 for you youngsters), resulting in me being totally confused as the what the heck was going on since I couldn't follow the story as I was missing some early issues. Too bad for the store since NewDC was just around the corner along with the mammoth #1s-order I, and I guess many others, were about to put in.

"Flash Gordon: The Tyrant of Mongo: Sundays 1937-1941" by Alex Raymond and Don Moore.

Raymond and Moore continue their saga. Raymond's art is carefully worked into each
comics panel, with a large amount of detailed background. Raymond also
moves away from the exotic alien races like Lion Men and Hawkmen of previous
stories (people only familiar with the media adaptations will be surprised to learn
that King Vultan, for instance, isn't even mentioned in this part of the FG run, whereas he was one of Mongo's big shots in the early stories). Instead, Raymond gives
us human-like peoples such as the Frigians and Power Men.

Moore's plots focus more on political intrigue than the previous volume's
swashbuckling. Having said that, there's still a fair quota of action. The August 14th, 1938 story contains the famous scene of Flash and Ming having a sword fight -surely one of the iconic images from American comics (reproduced here: )

http://www.jimkeefe.com/blog/wp-cont...01/Gallery.jpg

There's also a scene with Flash having a desperate sword fight with a group of
frost giants on August 6th, 1939. This reminded me of the Robert E. Howard Conan
story "The Frost Giant's Daughter". Both Howard and Raymond were big fans
of Edgar Rice Burroughs-hence the appearance in all three creators of brawny
men in their underpants with big swords.

Grabbed issue 2 of Rivers of London: Body Work at lunchtime today. I'm a massive fan of the books so getting a new stand alone story was a real no-brainer. Roll on November and book 6, The Hanging Tree.

I think the art has pretty much nailed Peter and The Nightingale, but Beverley ought to be a much darker shade of black than Peter - Considering the amount of creator input into this comic, you'd have thought that might have been raised.

Sam Keith's The Maxx. Was the only comic series I kept when I sold all my comics years ago, was missing issue 28 & 29 but managed to get a hold of a mint copy of 29 & just waiting on 28 being ordered.

Weird series but I love the art style & the psychological storylines.

Classic Deadpool, up to #22 now.

I completed the Daniel Way run recently and thought it was very inferior to Cable and Deadpool. Why did they introduce the head voices? I haven't seen these voices in the older Deadpool material, was there a storyline that explained how they came about?

(off-topic kinda but) Stopped reading Batgirl after ~7 years - hate the art - and Catwoman after rejoining it cos Spoiler was meant to be guest starring - which she hardly did and the new Catwoman direction was hard to get on board with.

Enjoyed issue one of Greg Rucka's new series for image, Black Magick.

I hope it carries on improving, like Lazarus has,

Batman
Re-read dark knight returns when new hardback out then onto the new dk3 master race
Batman Europa when arrives in trade
Descender from image
East of west from image
Got bored of American vampire due to long breaks but was good at the start

Only started reading in late 30s so time is an issue and now mainly only buy Batman trades

I'm thinking of trying to get get through Preacher with the TV adaptation starting soon. I love Garth Ennis, especially his run on Punisher Max and The Boys and also his old Dredd stories. So it's about time I pulled my finger out and read this!

Other than that I've recenrly been reading book one of Batman '66. It's a good light hearted read.

I'd love 2000AD to do another Button Man story.

As far as I can remember, they were all included in the original trades as well as the hardback editions.
