Anyone already aware of this if so I obviously missed that communication, can't say its a big suprise I'm sure they could have done something with him though feel quite sorry for him, what a lovely exit storyline for him doing the full monty, maybe his bosses found out and fired him for his unprofessionallism and we were never informed 😮

It's a shame, I'd have liked to see him used more.

We did get a hint during the Tina story, but as he says nothing came of it.

I didn't know he was leaving/left

I hope they introduce a new doctor and use the character a little more than they used Dr Carter

He was an interesting character, with loads of potential. It's a shame Corrie never used him more.

First Toni, now Dr Carter?

Why are they doing this to us?

He could of been a really good character if used.

Been reported on DS here ...

I for one am disappointed by this. Aside from his obvious good looks and notable assets, Dr Matt had the potential to be a strong character for Corrie. They could've done more with him.

Shame they didn't bother using him. Apart from his relationship with Tina I don't remember him having any storylines, so no wonder he decided to leave. Personally I would have shipped out the Windass/Armstrong clan and moved him into that house.

A real shame but hardly surprising. Mellor's press statement is quite interesting as he is straight down the line with his honesty regarding the doctor's character development, or lack thereof. He's a pretty decent actor and I'm sure he won't struggle to find work. He was only ever a minor supporting character in other people's storylines- Natasha's baby lie, John Stape's breakdown, Peter's alcoholism etc which must be frustrating for any actor. The romance between him and Tina was a real non-starter and led nowhere. Best of luck Oliver!

It doesn't stop a body from thinking (typed in an Ena Sharples voice) just what goes on with other characters' 'development'. Do the production team actually have a clue where any of the more peripheral characters are going? Dr Carter was obviously one of the most peripheral characters in the show, but it does make me wonder if they know what to do with some of the others who are, for the most part, on the fringes of stories featuring other characters.

They could at least have had a storyline where he's up in front of the GMC for sex with a patient.

I think Corrie, as is the case with other soaps too, seriously struggle to write for characters who work outside of the main social hubs on the street. Virtually every character who initially doesn't work on the street has to be sacked/quit their job so they can get a job at the factory/in one of Dev's businesses where the action takes place. It's lazy writing, if the writers were more creative perhaps we could have more characters who are integrated into the community without having to work in the aforementioned places.

Exactly, its why Kirsty began working at the factory and Jenna who now works at Dev's
Brian who is the headmaster at the school is also being axed
