Really looking forward to this album. Since abandoning Lollipops & Politics, V V is coming back with a new sound and brand new album altogether. I feel like she's incredible talented yet deathly underrated. She came to light at the same time as Florence & The Machine, Little Boots, La Roux etc. yet Radio 1 seemed to jump onto all of them apart from V V.

The first single, Samson, is due out in July. The album is out in September.

'Samson' - This seems to be part 1. Apparently there are more parts to come that will form a short film

Then I found three previews of songs from the album:-

Apple

Substitute For Love

Anybody else looking forward to V V Brown's return?

Well past her sell by date and this new direction is abysmal.
She's way too late to jump on the Electro Pop bandwagon.
This album will FLOP!

I disagree, good on her for scrapping the original plan and starting over. If she made another album like the first, how many people would then start saying "sophomore slump, it's exactly like the first". Some artists really can't win it seems

I'm a huge fan of her debut album - this new direction does nothing for me. I'm not averse to artists changing style - but Samson is just rubbish.

Shame as I've been looking forward to this album for years.

Yeah fine Fred, but then she can't win because if she made TLTL II she'd get criticised for rehashing that sound and not progressing. Her first album didn't set the music world alight but it gained a cult following, so if this album does similar then hardly a slump.

The again, maybe she should've started taking her clothes off,,,

I just hope this isn't gonna backfire totally on her, which it may. The only problem I'm gonna have with this album is that it might all sound like Samson. Samson took a while to grow on me, so I just hope there's some diversity in the album.

I wonder how she came to this sound? As far as I'm aware, V V was originally signed with P Diddy years ago but they tried to push her down the R&B route which she didn't want. So she left LA and made the record she wanted (which turned out to be Travelling Like the Light) But I can see the progession from TLTL to Lollipops & Politics. But Samson & Delilah is just such a huge change of direction.

As said above, TLTL didn't exactly set the world alight, but Shark In The Water did get her quite a lot of fans considering it went gold in the US. So I have a bad feeling fans of that won't like Samson and this may bite her on the ass

I have't seen much radio support yet and the single is out in 2 weeks

I've seen her playing the new stuff live in London and there's nothing catchy there at all.
She's just a failed bandwagon jumper.

You can hear the album here http://www.gigwise.com/news/84028/ex...mson-&-delilah

It's actually better than I was expecting especially since this is such a different sound for her

Substitute For Love and I Can Give You More are awesome. But Igneous is incredible!

Obviously this album was do much for her which is ashame, but the reviews are pretty good for it so far

"The Apple" was a real chart topper for her.

IAMVVFLOPAMIHAVEIFLOPPED?

She's better off with the Pop.

So much hate for VV!

Sorry but her debut was a bit naff, and so was Samson. The Apple on the other hand is one of the best songs of the year!

The album is brilliant and has so much range!!! Igneous is phenomenal She put SO much effort and emotion into it and it really shows.

One of the best image overhauls I've ever seen.

Unfortunately, Samson was a massive misjudgment in terms of her comeback single but it could be a sleeper hit!

She will get a lot of shit because this is a completely different sound than her previous music. I was nervous about the album and the previews didn't really do much for me, but after hearing the songs in full I am kinda blown away.

Samson grew on me, but it wasn't the best. The Apple I quite liked. But Substitute For Love, I Can Give You More and Faith are great songs. But as I said before, Igneous is like wow!! Really stands out, and I hope the album can at least be heard by people

I do expect it to flop because radio's have ditched her and even ditched her in the past. Unless you're arse licking Radio 1, I doubt she'll get playlisted. Then again, she went unknown until Shark In The Water (her third single) came out, so maybe it will happen this time around again
