Nexus 7 2 release date?
whoever,hey

When is the next Nexus 7 expected to be released?

My wife wants one but i'd rather not get a year old tablet if a new one is around the corner.

Won't know a release date until Google actually admit to their being one.

Nobody knows. The device exists, but has been held back for some reason. Google has said nothing about it.

Hmmm, this is interesting. Specs for the Nexus7 2 have been outed by an Asus rep and could be a late July/early August release.

Quote:
“ 7-inch, 1920 x 1080 resolution display
Qualcomm Snapdragon 600/S4 Pro APQ8064 processor
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage space
5 megapixel rear camera; 1.2 megapixel front camera
Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
LTE connectivity
4,000mAh battery
Android 4.3”

For anyone who owns the Nexus 7 are the above specs an improvement over the original?

Doesn't really seem a reason to buy one if you already have the first Nexus.

I would have preferred a micro or SD slot at least and maybe HDMI out.

It's an improvement but probably not enough to tempt many existing users to upgrade. I'm perfectly happy with my Nexus 7 and the lack of rear camera or HDMI out has never bothered me. Adding SD card expansion is unlikely as it is against Google's design policies. I will be waiting for the 3rd generation one!
