Google Play gift card - how to redeem?

Hi there,

I have a £10 gift card for Google Play and thought - "great - I'll put it towards some sat nav for my phone".

I followed the instructions on the back of the card and now £10 is showing on my Google Wallet, but it does not seem to give me the option when I go to download the app on my phone (CoPilot for £19.99).

I have had a look at installing it via the computer, but the problem is it is asking which device I want to install it on and it gives me the option of 2 Galaxy S3's (my one and my work one without any way of telling which is which).

Do you know if I just select the option to pay by my debit card if it will use the £10 gift card credit and then take the remaining from my bank (£9.99)?

Just wanted to check first before mucking up and having to send off EMAIL's to Google to get it sorted out.

Cheers, Mark.

Just wondering if I have to credit my Google Wallet with another £9.99 for it to use it as maybe it can't take part from each (Wallet and bank)?

Don't tell me I have to go out to Tesco to get another £10 gift card?

I don't think you can buy something worth more than the maximum value of the credit. You have to make a purchase within the value range....i.e. something £10 or less. It doesn't allow combined gift card and credit card purchases.

I had £15 free credit from when I bought my Nexus 7 (which for anyone else who had this, expired yesterday), and I had £4.82 left from it, but I couldn't make a purchase worth £4.99 with that credit and top it up unfortunately, it's just the way it works.

So if you wanted to by the CoPilot app, you would have to have at least the £19.99 in gift credit before you can make the purchase, otherwise you have to pay by credit card.

Thanks for the reply.

In the end I just thought "sod it" and bought it via my bank as could not be bothered to get another gift card.

I'm not sure if it had worked when I went to buy the sat nav there was the option there to enter a gift code so not sure if it would have taken it off before the rest (problem is I followed the instructions on the back of the card and it loaded it onto my account).

Love CoPilot though as do a lot of driving for work and it's worth the money for me (although Google Navigation is still very good).

Tesco have an online gift card store so you don't need to go to Tesco again.
