Considering this thread is in the Xbox forum and is about Games for Gold available on Xbox... why has it suddenly turned into a circle jerk about how great PS+ is?

You can chalk me up as another convert, I bought a PS3 before Xmas and while the console performance itself is pretty similar to the 360 the customer service provided by Sony through PS+ and their game sales blows MS out of the water. I don't think you'll find anyone dumping PS+ for Xbox Live gold which tells it's own story. |

Because PS+ IS great and Xbox Live gold now feels like a rip off to those that have experienced both?

I won't deny that PS+ offers some crazy good deals, its really good, but I'll admit myself that it gets tedious being repeatedly told. Both services are so cheap (around £2.30 a month for xbox live) that it's hardly worth complaining about for me.The free years sub to xboxlive fitness was worth that alone for myself.I certainly won't scoff at any other freebies that are sent my way. I think next month we'll hear some news on how the Xbox one will offer free items with GWG. It seems like Fighter within and Lococycle look nailed on for the freebies, hopefully they surprise me. |

Where have you been for the last year?Every thread and discussion about GWG is turned in to a 'I love PS+' discussion...Everywhere, Even on the official Xbox forums and Major Nelsons website people that have never owned XboxLive will sign up just tell everyone how great PSN+ is, I'm not sure if they're paid shills or just outright crazy, but i'm leaning towards the latter..

If MS provided a comparable value for money then there wouldn't be any need for folk to point out how much better PS+ is. |

Of course, some Xbox owners will be totally oblivious to what's happening on PS+ and will be grateful for the free titles. As for Lococycle and Fighters Within, I hope for MS's that's not seriously being considered. For the PR shitstorm it will create they would be better off skipping those and giving away nothing for an extra month. |

In response to the criticism of PSN Sony stepped up their game and after a bumpy start to PS+ the service really grew into a must have for gamers. Much like Sony at the start of the PS3 generation MS have taken their eye off the ball and become complacent which is why we see an increase of dissatisfaction from a number of their fans who have now moved over to Playstation. A lot of the people criticising Sony back then were 360 owners who had moved to Microsoft because of their dissatisfaction with Sony, it appears the same is happening again. |

I've gotten used to the Sony fans being on the offensive everytime this subject comes up lol. It seems almost every thread these days based around Xbox has a gathering of self-reassuring Sony fans just gasping to tell us how what we're doing is wrong, what we're playing is crap and what terrible value Xbox Live offers.
Aside from the obvious rental vs ownership argument I'm perfectly happy with my XBLG subscription, likewise with the 360, I think GFG is a good service, sure many of the games might not be the latest releases but you can't argue at the quality. Civilization Revolution is a £19.99 digital title (still) and not only is it an unusual game to find but also holds it's price quite well. There's a lot of decent variety on the service and I appreciate MS offering us niche cassics like this. Personally though, I'm not desperate for more games, certainly not enough to pay money for a lucky dip rental service for something I might've already bought a few months ago. Saying that though If I gamed mostly on PS3 I would almost certainly use PS+ just for the perk of being able to play some retail games directly off the HDD. A built-in feature for the 360's OS (since NXE) that should of been made available on Sony's console rather than have them use it as a bargaining tool to further encourage digital sales and PS+ subs. IMO the best thing about XBLG are actually the excellent game sales which can save you can awful lot of money long term (depending on your spending habits). Once ID@Xbox goes live in the next few weeks I'm sure we'll see GFG migrate over to X1 as well. |

Yeah we now need a sub to PS+ to game online with the PS4 but the point is we still get offered more up-to-date and better games with + than we do with GwG and it's time for MS to change that or risk losing more of their gamer's to Sony. |

I really cannot see the value in Xbox Live Gold anymore.
A yearly sub to play online and access Video services that you ALREADY pay a sub to access. Microsoft seriously need to up the value of this service as paying just to pretty much play online with a few so-so games thrown in isn't value for money. |

Getting free games is a nice bonus but that isn't the service your paying for. Your paying for a stable online service. Of course in this competitive marketplace MS will need to react to Sony and I expect they've got a few surprises up their selves. If they don't then that is a really poor business move in my view. He4rt did point something out earlier in this thread which seemed to have gotten glanced over. All Gold X1 owners got Kinect fitness for free. There is tons of stuff up on there which my other half uses. Yes a free game would have been nice but they are offering other things for free as part of the subscription. |

Less than £3 a month and you get 2 free games along with other features (Xbox fitness, dedicated servers for every game etc, etc)
I'm struggling to see how Xbox Live doesn't offer good value to anyone that owns at least one Microsoft console. |

![]() Your spot on, people knew what they were buying into. Getting free games is a nice bonus but that isn't the service your paying for. Your paying for a stable online service. Downloads are fast, the servers are never down and it's reliable. Throw in two games given away as a free gift each month and I think we have our monies worth, people who think otherwise, or believe that MS HAVE to offer us newer games are in my opinion too self-entitled and don't realise just how good we've got it. If PS+ is so great and XBLG sucks then you know what to do. However not everyone feels like this or else things would be changing. Lastly, it is also this funding that has allowed any X1 game to run off MS's own dedicated servers. There's the new achievement system and stat tracker which has not been given the attention it deserves imo, the way new challanges are set with in-game rewards for each game is great and the in-depth stats like amount of enemies killed, miles driven, hours played etc are a great touch. This sort of thing doesn't come for nothing. |

Out of all the ps4s sold and all the people who had ps+ on the ps3 I estimate that there are about 4 million subscriptions to ps+. Where did I get this number you ask, I plucked it out of thin air. At $50 / €50 / $40 a year, that brings in $€200 million / £160 million per year to pay for some of these games. They give away 60 titles a year. Averaging just over $€3 million / just under £3 million each they pay per game assuming they use up all the ps+ money on games and dont keep any for themselves. Disclaimer: The maths are solid but entirely made up. |

Somebody tell me why I should care about a bunch of free games I'll never play and waste my HDD space, I can't say I'm feeling that I'm missing out on anything.
So PS+ gives you better free games eh? ...great....you guys want a medal or something? It's so nice of you all though to care that us XBL users are missing out on something we 'should' be getting, it's very touching to see. Now if you could also raise awareness for the other things I've been paying for years that I 'should' demand freebies from: Mortgage Council Tax Train Season Pass Water Electricity Degree Phone The Mrs ....and to think some people say gamers are entitled fanbois. |

People seem to think you have to be a Sony fanboy to realise how poor MS services are in comparison to their biggest competitor. I only bought a PS3 a few months ago after having a 360 since January 2006 (and going through at least 2 xbox repairs and a replacement at MS cost) so I'm anything but a 'Sony fanboy' but I am now a huge fan of PS+. Since joining I have played Remember Me, X-Com Enemy Unknown, DMC, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, Guacamelee, Metro Last Light, Uncharted 3, LBP Karting, Giana Sisters, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Soul sacrifice, Dynasty warriors Next, and I’ve got Resogun, Don’t starve and Outlast should I choose to buy a PS4. It’s really hard to argue against that service being value for money and I haven’t even been a member for 3 months. A happy customer should not be confused with a fan boy, both consoles have their advantages, the xbox has a better controller and xbox Live has a much better download/update system but value for money is no contest imo. |
