Personally, I don't see the point of MS releasing games like Tomb Raiderefinitive Edition and Walking Dead S1 as Gold freebies?! Chances are that we've already played these games on the 360 (I know I have) and there is NO difference to them on the X1 (exactly the same game!).

...whats the point?!
They are hardly going to give us AAA games are they - would cost them a fortune. Once there are more games on the XBone though, I'm sure we will start to see more AAA games.

Besides, for people like me, who haven't played Tomb Raider yet - it's fantastic.

Adding Tomb Raider kind of makes sense as it may create extra interest in the game due out soon. I seem to remember PS+ doing similar things as well.

I almost bought Pneuma: Breath Of Life when it came out, so I'm glad about that. Not too fussed about the rest though.

Will get Pneuma but I think I'll pass on the others.

I know sometimes we seem to get shit games offered to us but remember, we're paying for subs to game online. The Games for Gold are a bonus. Once in a while we'll get a decent game/s but chances are, most of us already own or have owned it/them.
Those being offered on PS+ are just as pants.

Pneuma looks cool. Knight squad seems to be a local multiplayer thing mainly, so won't get much use in my house.
Pleased about the 360 games. Xb1 is my first ms console so it is a real plus for me.

Already got Dirt 3, but a much better offering after last month's cheap tricks.

I don't look at it that way. The monthly games are just as much a part of the subscription as online play to me, not just a bonus, and as such shouldn't just be any old crap. To be fair GWG has been pretty good this year, except for maybe last month. Apart from the odd gem such as Rocket League PS+ has been poor for months though, so much so I let my PS+ sub expire in September.

They didn't put the he price up when GWG started though so I'd see it more as s bonus. The subscription is just for the standard Live Gold service.

Do we only get half a game with dirt 3? It says I'd need to buy a pass to play online....or am I doing something wrong with g4G? It's our first experience with g4G but just presumed we'd get the full games.

They are making us buy the online pass separately apparently.

Backwards compatibility is one of MS's key strategies and what do they give millions of users as their first experience? Half a 4 year old racing game. What are they thinking?

Well...that's pretty crap.
Surely it's a mistake and the pass will open up when they realise.

Erm.... The opposite it seems.

They originally said.....

"@XboxSupport3: Hi there! Dirt 3 is playable online without the VIP pass, no need to worry there. ^SK"

Then corrected themselves with..,,

@XboxSupport3: Sorry about that, looks like the VIP pass is required for online play..... no info to suggest that it won't be required even when the game is free in November. Anything else we can help with? 2/2 ^BD

Dirt 3 is the worst of the Codemasters rally games anyway, it went a bit too demolition derby and *bleep* gymkhana up it's stupid *bleep*ing *bleep*!!!!

The contradiction for me is I've always really liked DC gear but Kenny Block has kind of messed up one my favourite games, Colin McRae rally!!

Had a quick go on pneuma last night. Seems decent to me, I liked the voice-over which reminded me of Thomas was Alone or Portal.
I also picked up Costume Quest 2 for £4 through the Deals with Gold thing. Certainly worth a look if you don't have it. A fun turn based rpg.

The other annoying thing is that codemasters and others scrapped online codes for future games and said they'd remove from older games. However dirt 3 was hard coded in or something, so surely the answer was to simply make the online pass 0.00 cost.

It's weird. I have the game on disc and the VIP pass is included in the box. If you buy the game digitally, the VIP pass is (apparently) included, but if you get it from GWG you have to pay.

This has been fixed now and the VIP pass is now included.

Microsoft has lifted the lid on your Games with Gold picks for December, with The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing and Eidos Montreal's Thief leading the way on Xbox One. That also means confirmation of a December release date for The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, which launched for PC a while back.

While Thief and Van Helsing will be your free Xbox One games with a Gold subscription, on Xbox 360, XBLA release CastleStorm will be your free game for the first half of the month, before Sacred 3 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising see out the rest of December.

Games with Gold: December 2015

Xbox One
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing ($14.99 ERP) - 1-Dec - 31-Dec
Thief ($29.99 ERP) - 15-Dec - 16-Jan

Xbox 360
CastleStorm ($9.99 ERP) - 1-Dec - 15-Dec
Sacred 3 ($19.99 ERP) - 16-Dec - 31-Dec
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising ($9.99) - 16-Dec - 31-Dec
