Rumour has it, king of the U-turn Don Mattrick, president of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment division is about to leave the company.

After recent events, one could argue that Xbox needs better direction. At the same time, will his departure less than 6 months before launch of Xbox One leave the company in a weakened position?

Apparently so. Didn't they just lay off loads of staff though? Is Mattrick is going to be their saviour?

Zynga!? Did not expect that.

Since he worked at EA in the 90's early 00's many were expecting him to get CEO of EA.

Well I suppose Microsoft were always going to throw someone on the fire after the bad press Xbox One got.

He was a trainwreck. Absolute car crash! Microsoft has made the right decision to bump him off if reports are accurate.

If there was ever a way to convince people not to buy an Xbox One he himself gave every person distinction. I think cooler heads are now going to prevail, Yusuf Mehdi I hope will be elevated. From interviews and how he is able to communicate with his audience he would be an apt leader for the division.

EDIT: why the hell is tiny url blocked??

Love this from fake Kaz Hirai on Twitter -

"Don Mattrick to join Zynga. Farmville users will now have to connect to their game every 24 hours or their animals will be killed"

Confirmed now.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/zynga-...200000713.html

There were rumours last week. Though they suggested he was leaving the Xbox division to become just some general high-up person in MS.

The Windows 8 guy left shortly after Windows 8 launched too.

Well, everyone can rest easy. There's absolutely no need to panic. Steve Bullmer is temporarily taking over DM's role. What can possibly go wrong?

He isn't taking his role, he just assumes responsibility until a replacement is found, just like any other job that becomes vacant.

"Don is unique in the game business," said Mark Pincus

Yup, he can totally screw up the launch of a cash-cow and hand everything over to the main competitor who did similar last time...

Absolutely, I meant to say temporarily and you were right to correct me.

He will become CEO of Zynga as of 8th July so that's a quick move! Maybe he jumped before he was pushed?

Man, I wish I was a CEO - It seems like no matter how badly you f**k up, you just move across into yet another over paid job.

It's even better than being a Premiership manager.

Hey Microsoft if you're reading this - I'm prepared to make a hash of the Xbox Two launch for half the money you paid Mattrick.

Unbelievable, this guy has left the Xbox brand: hung out and left to dry. While all his 'successes' of the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live was laid down by Peter Moore's team. What Mattrick brought to the table was Kinect and an lackluster first-party output!

I call it an opportunistic exit. Now as the Xbox brand tanks, he can say because he left!

Lucky escape for xbox owners if you ask me. The fact he's got a job a Zynga hints at where he was trying to take the Xbox brand. You are all saved from games where micro transactions are the norm.

Because people want some idea of where a link goes before they click on it.

Is it really so hard to use the original URL, like this?
