Radio Leeds doing a Leeds United commentary look back tonight at 6

Favourite moments, Bryn Law features and Ian Dennis I think.

Correction: They did have.

I notice Bryn Law is the earliest of the commentators. I remember him covering Leeds United for the station in the late 90s. Was he the first commentator when they started doing every Leeds match on FM or were there any before him? He was commentating on Leeds United in the season Halifax Town were promoted to what was then Division 3. Simon Clark would normally commentate on which ever match was on AM and host the programme at that time. I don't really remember anythin before the Simon Clark era.

Dave Callaghan used to commentate on Leeds, and before that a certain Harry Gration. Wouldn't be surprised if John Boyd did a match or two back in the day.

Tuesday 23rd July - BBC Radio Ulster

Michael McNamee presenting a Sportsound Special from Belfast with Stephen Craigan at Celtic Park

UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round Second Leg
Celtic v Cliftonville - Joel Taggart and Chris Morgan, with Stephen Craigan making occasional contributions (7.45pm commentary on 1341MW and the BBC Sport website)

Radio Ulster lost their line to Celtic Park around the midway point in the first half, at which point they picked up Radio Scotland's commentary with Liam McLeod and Stephen McManus for a few minutes until their line was fixed.

According to BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound Twitter feed, their coverage of this game is being broadcast on 810MW, DAB and their digital television platforms, but not online. I'm not sure if this is a rights issue, as Radio Ulster are streaming their coverage via the BBC Sport website. As such, I'll leave it to Mark or one of our other Scottish contributors to fill in the gaps when it comes to Radio Scotland's presenting team and pitchside reporter at the game.
Mark.

Didn't Jon Champion work for Radio Leeds too or/and Peter Drury?

Wednesday 24th July - talkSPORT

Danny Kelly presenting, followed by Hawksbee & Jacobs

Premier League Asia Trophy Semi-Final
Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland - Nigel Adderley and Ray Houghton (11.30am BST commentary)

The kick-off in this game was delayed by half an hour due to heavy rain in Hong Kong, where the tournament is taking place, and thus was reduced to 80 minutes along with the other semi-final, South China v Manchester City. talkSPORT didn't carry updates on that game or on the second leg of the Celtic v Cliftonville Champions League qualifier last night. However, they do have Dan Dawson reporting on the PDC World Matchplay darts from the Winter Gardens in Blackpool this week and later today Ian Danter and Darren Gough will be hosting Drive Time from Old Trafford ahead of Lancashire v Yorkshire in the Friends Life T20.

BBC Radio Leeds still doesn't have a commentary rights deal with Bradford City. They are waiting for the club to respond to their offer.

Peter Drury was there between 1990-93 although I do not know if he ever commentated on Leeds United

Greetings all. First the good news. I have been given the all-clear from the non-Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer that I developed last Christmas (although I have a course of radiotherapy to undergo to eliminate (hopefully) the little beastie coming back into my spinal cord).

BBC Radio Leeds
Commentators/Reporters since 1993 (to 2008) have included:
John Boyd, Dave Woods, Derm Tanner, Julian Gaunt, Eddie Gray, Ian Timms and Peter Levy (in the mid-90s), Bryn Law, Norman Hunter, David Callaghan, Ian Dennis (Leeds commentator), Paul Ogden, Mark Taylor, Luke Wileman (Leeds commentator from 2002), Adam Pope (Leeds commentator in 2004), Andy Edwards and Jamie Bloom.

Derm Tanner commentated on Bradford for a fair number of years while Paul Ogden was the main Huddersfield commentator.

Prestatyn Town v HNK Rijeka (UEFA Europa League 2nd qualifying round 2nd leg) - Marc Lloyd Williams for BBC Radio Cymru.

For some reason, Radio Wales have just been announcing the goals during the hourly news.
