FA Cup commentaries can be broadcast in the UK. It means they won't be streamed via the normal BBC local radio websites but at a seperate page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13629210

A tweet from Geoff Peters:

I've been asked to present a new show on @talkSPORT which will focus on sides in the @football_league. We go live this Saturday at 6am.

Looks like Fisherman's Blues will be one day a week:

For those of you asking, it'll be from 6-7am on Saturday before @talkSPORTWSB. Fisherman's Blues will be on Sunday at the same time.

Really pleased with this news. Great to hear that talkSPORT will be broadcasting their first show dedicated to the Football League since Football First, Second and Third ended midway through 2003/04. Great also to hear that Geoff Peters will be making a long overdue return to the talkSPORT presenting ranks - it doesn't seem like it's been 11 years since Call The Doc, the Sunday afternoon phone-in he co-hosted with Tommy Docherty, finished.

Geoff has been doing some sterling work for talkSPORT in recent times as their Championship correspondent, yet until this new show was announced he had actually been someone who had lost out through their weekend schedule changes - his Championship preview on Friday night Kick Off when it was hosted by Danny Kelly hasn't been carried over onto the new Keys & Gray show, and with Matchday Live now starting an hour later at 1pm this season, his live Championship preview at 12.50pm has been replaced by a pre-recorded one an hour later. He still makes some good contributions reviewing the league on the Russell Hargreaves-hosted Extra Time shows at weekends and hopefully they'll continue along with his new show.

I am a fan of A Fisherman's Blues with Nigel Botherway, so I'm slightly disappointed that they've lost Saturdays, but really the damage was done to that show when both its weekend timeslots were cut in half from two hours to one, prompting the departure of long-serving host Keith Arthur. At least here it'll be quality replacing quality and the fishing show will still continue on Sundays.

Agree - i like Geoff as a reporter, can't think i've heard him host though but i'm sure he'll be good, and its great to have a FL show on there. Is he midlands based?

I didn't listen but I'd imagine that they called upon Roddy Forsyth for pre-match, half-time and full-time reports as they have done on previous Celtic Champions League matches this season. Roddy was at the Amsterdam ArenA reporting on the game for The Daily Telegraph, so this seems likely.

Interesting to hear that Danny Higginbotham was co-commentating on Sunderland v Southampton for Radio 5 Live Sports Extra last night. Danny has been heard fairly regularly on talkSPORT over the past six months, with him being used as a guest co-host on the Sports Breakfast, Colin Murray, Kick Off and The Sports Bar, so it's interesting to hear him branching out and doing some work for another broadcaster. I've liked what I've heard of him and think he has a lot of potential to do well in broadcasting. Clearly he's laying the foundations for a punditry career once he retires as a player, by taking the Matt Holland route of doing media work whenever possible in the latter stages of his playing career.

He is, as well as being talkSPORT's Championship correspondent, he's also their man in the East Midlands and typically covers home games involving Derby County, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest. It'll be interested to see if Up The League (the name given to the new Football League show on the talkSPORT.com schedule) will be live or pre-recorded. If the former and Geoff is presenting it from talkSPORT Towers, it'll be interesting to see if he starts reporting from London-based games on Saturdays, as is the case with Ian Danter, who is based in the West Midlands and typically covers the Birmingham clubs during the week, but now tends to cover early kick-offs played in London for Matchday Live before going on to host Football First later on Saturday evenings.

Worth noting that Sunday Exclusive will start at the earlier time of 11am this weekend - meaning no The Warm Up with Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning - as talkSPORT have a Premier League commentary double header of Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United at 12noon and Sunderland v Manchester City at 2.05pm. Sam Matterface and Stan Collymore will doing the earlier game with Nigel Adderley and Michael Gray due to commentate on the later one from Micky's native North-East. Stan is still scheduled to host Call Collymore, which I'd imagine will be broadcast from talkSPORT Towers rather than from White Hart Lane.

Thursday 7th November - talkSPORT

Hawksbee & Jacobs, followed by Drive Time with Adrian Durham and Darren Gough, before Mark Saggers presented Kick Off alongside Matt Scott from Inside World Football magazine

UEFA Europa League Group Stage
Kuban Krasnodar v Swansea City - Geoff Peters
Rubin Kazan v Wigan Athletic - Graham Beecroft
Tottenham Hotspur v Sheriff Tiraspol - Ian Abrahams

Roy Hodgson's press conference to announce the latest England squad
Wembley Stadium - Warren Haughton

Men United Cup 5-a-side Final
West One Three v talkSPORT Legends - Andrew McKenna, with Ian Abrahams at pitchside*

Horse Racing: Towcester Races
Towcester Racecourse - Rupert Bell**

*The Hawksbee & Jacobs show carried pre-match and half-time updates plus commentary on the last five minutes on the final of a charity 5-a-side football tournament organised by Prostate Cancer UK in conjuction with the station, which was played on the 5-a-side pitch outside talkSPORT Towers after 3pm. West One Three, the national 5-a-side football champions and winners of the nationwide competition, played a "talkSPORT Legends" team made up of Colin Murray, Max Rushden, Perry Groves, Bobby Gould and Ray Houghton, plus producer Dennie Morris as substitute. West One Three won the game 5-1, with Rushden scoring a penalty and Groves being sent off for the talkSPORT team, with reporter Lynsey Hooper refereeing the match. And no, Macca's commentary efforts won't be included in my end of season commentary stats!

**The reason why Rupert Bell was reporting from otherwise ordinary race meetings at Towcester today and Chepstow yesterday was because he was covering AP McCoy's efforts to ride his 4,000th winner. Rupert did an off-air commentary on the closing stages of McCoy's landmark win in the 3.10 today which talkSPORT have been running on their news bulletins this evening.
