Is it possible to use the BT Vision box as just a recorder? We have a Smart TV which has iPlayer, ITV Player, Netflix etc. Consequently we rarely if ever use the iPlayer on the Vision box.

I realise I would have to contact BT to remove it from our system but would that make it inoperable?

Good thinking but to start the box for recording it has to go through the rigmarole of connecting. Otherwise it doesn't work!

Press BT Vision - Help & Settings - Settings - System Info.

What Middleware are you on? And is it the new look menu?

I am not familiar with the term "middleware"! Also my vision box is the old silver one so when I press the various links I don't get "Help and Settings" It just has "help" and "settings" separately. So presumably it is the old menu.

I have managed to get to the system info though. I will check what it says and get back to you.

Hi Gill, sorry to tell you the silver box won't work as a standalone PVR. Its only the newer black ones that can do that.

Yes, I have sussed that out. However, as the silver one has a slight fault (won't switch on or off with the remote although all other controls work) I might ask them to change it for me. If they say no, so be it but no harm in trying.

They are sending me out a new remote! No luck with a new box - oh well, it was worth a try!
