I wish we had a tought EP in charge of the show. Have Kat say she's sorry have her then find out Alfie is Tommy's father have Him killed before she gets to tell him that and also have him think she's done something really bad have him really hating her before he dies. Have her live with that also it would be good to see how Kat and roxy would cope after he's been murdered violently gunned down in the Vic. Alfie's character holds to many characters back killing him off would be the best for those characters and the show all round the cheeky chappy persona after 10 years has worn abit thin now. Put Sharon back in the Vic with Phil and the rest of the Mitchell's. Eastenders needs a big story and this is what it needs!

I don't think a death would go down well. But a fatal injury that leaves him comotose indefinately is the best way around It, while keeping the door open. I disagree with your last point though, the ship has sailed for phil/sharon working at the vic.The vic isn't the epicentre of the show anymore and its time tptb stopped trying to recreate the past with those characters. Its why sharon isn't clicking and her relationship with phil felt off

Too many good Eastenders characters have died in the past, I'd be gutted if Alfie was ever killed off.

Alfie ruined Kat and ruined The Vic twice! Shane Richie is an appalling actor playing a dismal and annoying character who never should've been created let alone given 2 major stints.

Agree he even managed to mess up the reboot of Minder when he played Archie Daley, just an abysmal actor.

He should go back to doing adverts for Daz or go back to Sky television and make some more crass music singing shows!

He's a great actor who has won quite a few awards over the years. I thought he was brilliant during the baby swap storyline and Nana Moon's final storyline.

It's amazing that while Kat was with Alfie I just assumed the writing for HER was bad, but now the exact same is happening with Roxy.

Get Alfie out of the Vic! and away from all the good characters! He drags them all down.

I can't work out if its Alfie or the Vic. Perhaps it's a combination of both. Both Alfie and the Vic are huge presences, another character in the mix just doesn't have a chance.

I personally like the character. I think if Alfie were to leave again then killing him off would be a good idea. Let me put it this way, I'd rather see him go out in a blaze of glory than stroll off into the sunset again, all loved up with a certain person. To be honest that probably sums up how I feel about the whole Kat and Alfie saga, I'd rather see him get blown up or pushed into a cement mixer than ever get back together with old no knickers Nora.

All of Kat's bad characterisation stems from being married to Alfie. I knew when she got away from him she'd improve. Just a shame they're going to be put back together. I hope they don't make her landlady of The Vic again. It didn't suit her and she's better on the market.

I rather like Alfie, but there is far too much of the genial cheeky chappie about him - especially after some of the tricks fate has played on him over the years - so I'd like toi see a darker side to Alfie from time to time.

I'd also like him away from the Vic.

I like Alfie as well but I think someone else needs to run the vic. Did you get my PM?

Considering they seem to never want to unearth exactly why Alfie has this OTT cheeky chap and general doormat to women trait, then yes please, OP!

TPTB don't have the balls to axe Alfie or Kat, though.

My opinion on this is that Alfie as a character works with Kat when written well and given good material (none of this making up breaking up repetition). Kat on the other hand works well either with or without him.

The actors have great chemistry and, despite what many may think on here, are a popular pairing. The problem is that the writers don’t know how to write for united married couples, so start creating affairs which is tedious and has been done to death. There was no need to bring Kat back pregnant with Alfie’s cousin’s baby and there was no need to have her cheat on him time and time again. It completely undermined their characters. They should’ve been brought back happy and united as the iconic couple they once were, or not brought back at all.

We had been led to believe that he was the only man for her and her true love. Character progression was undone in one swift move by having Kat pregnant with Michael’s baby and then it went steadily downhill from there.

We had already experienced years of will they / won’t they on their first stint. We didn’t need to see it played out again.

I think TPTB need to either keep them apart – and potentially have him leave, or get them back together permanently.
