My dad said he saw the BBC were axing it next year, but I can't see this being true. Has anyone else heard anything?

Don't be ridiculous. The show gets good ratings and is sold internationally. The BBC would also have to create two more hours of TV a week to replace it with which would no doubt cost more.

Are you sure he didn't say that they "should" be axing it

He said he heard there was something on Twitter.

I told him there's no way they'd axe it as it's an institution. Whenever it's been in a bad state, it's always been sorted out again.

The rumours maybe due to the fact the contract for Elstree expires in 2015 and isn't up for renewel.

I'd hate to see them leave Elstree - that set holds so much history - it's gutting me to see Coronation Street move from Quay St

'Nuff said.

I never believe anything reported as 'heard on Twitter' - social networking sites are a playground for trolls as the sites are completely ungoverned, and anyone can make up stories and hide behind a mask of anonymity.

I wait for official sources and would never trust any Twitter/Facebook rumours as they are generally the products of a bored imagination rather than fact.

Ask him and yourself this simple question:

Since when has Twitter been an authoratitive source for anything of note?
