Is Sale being paid by ITV for these stories?

Comparing BT vs Sky ratings is fairer but still not completely as they are distrubuted in the same way.

As for YoY, with no Manchester Utd or Liverpool (again) in the CL then I'm sure BT would expect a small decrease, plus no Chelsea who might rate better than Leicester/Spurs?

I'm sure decent ratings for City/Celtic and City/Barca games will be generated, City might start to get more ratings in general given the good start, good football & Pep factor

I think it is fair to compare the FTA matches because BT effectively took over from ITV in that regard, they werent given the rights for them to be 100% behind a pay-wall like Sky.

That's a bit like saying it's fair to compare BBC1 ratings with those for Channel 5 or Dave. Yes, I can see the point, but given the millions of people that don't even seem to be able to find BBC2 on their remote it's hardly a relevant comparison!

The Deutsche Bank TMT conference in London heard that the TV rights auction for UEFA’s Champions League series of football games is likely to be delayed from now (this September’s expectation) to the Spring or even Summer of 2017.

No. Only once winter arrives do Russian teams kick off early.

Putin changed the time so Moscow is only 2 hours ahead and not 3 of us

Also worth noting the new UEFA President is reviewing the recent deal to give the top 4 countries 4 places in CL group stage - this obviously has to be finalised before TV tender.

It's probably unlikely he'll overturn it but if he does this season's results will be absolutely vital with England at high risk of falling behind Italy in the country rankings.

West Ham's defeat in the EL play-off will cost significant points and just could end up being very important indeed.

I thought England had gone well ahead due to Liverpool's Europa runners up & City's Semi final CL?
And Italy only having 2 CL spots this year reduces opportunity

Remember it’s done on average points per team.

Italy still have all teams in group stages earning points – we have one team already out.

Shocking to think that we're still in September and more than half of the UEFA Nations no longer have any representatives in UEFA Competitions...

Yup, same here. Hence why I would like to know where the b*llocks rumour came from.

It was at one point on the BT website, too. I definitely read it there - on the article when they first announced the first Showcase matches of the season. It's a poor mistake for them to make.

Yeah, I was under the impression that the Leicester game would be on Showcase too, They've gone back on themselves on that one.

Which games have been on Showcase so far this season?

Club Brugge v Leicester
CSKA v Spurs

Any others?
